"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever.  But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with."

Obama avoided dealing in any meaningful way with the single most important issue facing the black community -- the breakdown of the black family. And this issue, and its consequences, explains far more about the failure of blacks to thrive today than racism or lack of social spending. – Linda Chavez

A Few Notes             – by Theresa Camoriano

Ron Paul is coming to Louisville Saturday, May 17, 2008. The details have not yet been announced, but you may want to reserve the date.

I am very grateful to people like Ron Paul, Norm Davis, John Riley, and Richard Lewis, who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much to protect our freedom.  They are the true descendants of our founding fathers.  Norm has managed to bring together various freedom-loving people, from motorcycle riders who want the freedom to ride without helmets, to gun owners who want the right to self defense, to property owners who want to control their own property, and he has brought their voices to our legislators in Frankfort as a volunteer citizen-lobbyist.  He has earned the trust of our legislators, because he tells them the truth.  And he has been very effective.  Simply amazing!         (click to read more)

Friend or foe? You need to know           By Jim Waters

Opposites may attract when it comes to love. But just the opposite holds true at the political soap opera known as the annual gathering of Kentucky’s Legislature.

On one side sit those who support sound policies put forward for the good of all Kentuckians, the “friends of freedom.”          (click to read more)

Hey! Where did everyone go?          By Jeff Mario” Smith, Guerilla Reporter

When asked by a fellow Conservative who agrees with me that John McCain is unacceptable as POTUS, which third party I was going to support, I wrote him the following in response.

I am against political parties. John Adams was against them for the same reason I am against them. I have often said... "Political parties have stolen representative government from the people and replaced it with party government."         (click to read more)

Obama’s Speech About Reverend Wright           – Mike Minton

Today was a big day for the big man from Illinois who has been the center of speculation and scrutiny since inflammatory remarks on race and ‘evil American domestic and foreign policy’ made by his mentor and spiritual advisor, the wrong right-Rev. Jeremiah Wright became public fodder. And he blew it…big time.         (click to read more)

Protect Free Speech – Reject Kentucky Senate Bill 8          By John Riley

John C. Calhoun, former vice president of the U.S., was born on March 18, 1782.

Here's an excerpt from Calhoun's Disquisition on Government originally published in 1850:

"A written constitution certainly has many and considerable advantages, but it is a great mistake to suppose that the mere insertion of provisions to restrict and limit the powers of the government, without investing those for whose protection they are inserted with the means of enforcing their observance, will be sufficient to prevent the major and dominant party from abusing its powers. Being the party in possession of the government, they will . . . have no need of these restrictions . . ."          (click to read more)

"Betting against Kentucky's future: Casino Gambling in KY"          By Matthew Singleton

The question of legalizing casino gambling has become a hot topic in state politics.  I believe that the introduction of casino gambling is a rationalization crime and would damage the commonwealth.

Over the past few years many state across America have given up previous laws concerning the practice of gambling and the casinos.  Governor Steve Beshear has considered joining this movement to use the Casinos to raise tax money to pay off  the debts of the state.         (click to read more)

Faith Conquers Tyrants         By ex-POW Major Mark “ZIPPO” Smith (Ret)

Faith, is the enemy of all tyrants.

If a man believes in almighty God he can never be truly enslaved.

Through bleeding lips he can smile and know what the atheist can never fathom; There is more, so very much more than this mere testing ground we call life.          (click to read more)

Mideast Peace Agreement Seems Unlikely           -By: Michael A. Minton

I have been watching this situation between Israel and the Palestinians for a long time. I was a freelance reporter for Talon News when Condoleeza Rice was named Secretary of State. And I remember her making promises that she would spend however much time was necessary to hammer-out a peace agreement between the two sides.         (click to read more)

The Klingenschmitt Article on Juan McCain Or: The 9th Reason          by Jeff "Mario" Smith, Guerilla Reoporter

Lt. Gordon James Klingenschmitt, whom I respect highly, misses the point and buys into the very problem that is plaguing America politically, that being the corrupt two party political system. The concept of being a republicrat or demonrat is one I cannot understand and never could. Why would anyone become part of a "party" that sets agendas that they may not agree with, sometimes getting into areas that speak to the very soul of the individual?          (click to read more)

Top-10 Reasons to Vote ‘No’ to More Cigarette Taxes

10. Cigarettes don’t pay taxes. Kentucky smokers do!

In 2006, the 28.5 percent of adults who comprise Kentucky’s smoker population paid more than their fair share — more than $400 million — in taxes and tobacco-settlement payments because they chose to buy cigarettes. Isn’t $400 million enough tax revenue for a single legal product?          (click to read more)

Ethanol is 20 to 30 percent less efficient than gasoline, making it more expensive per highway mile. It takes 450 pounds of corn to produce the ethanol to fill one SUV tank. That's enough corn to feed one person for a year. Plus, it takes more than one gallon of fossil fuel -- oil and natural gas -- to produce one gallon of ethanol. After all, corn must be grown, fertilized, harvested and trucked to ethanol producers -- all of which are fuel-using activities. And, it takes 1,700 gallons of water to produce one gallon of ethanol. – Walter Williams
