“[State controlled] education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” – Joseph Stalin

"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever.  But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with."

--Ronald Reagan

“Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924)

[W]e can be deeply thankful that we live in a land where reason and religion are friends and allies in the cause of liberty, joined against the evils and dangers of the day. And you can be certain of this: Any believer in religious freedom, any person who has knelt in prayer to the Almighty, has a friend and ally in me. And so it is for hundreds of millions of our countrymen: we do not insist on a single strain of religion - rather, we welcome our nation's symphony of faith. – Mitt Romney

We Need Our Heroes           By Theresa Camoriano

The latest news has focused on two young men – the first being Tim Tebow, the winner of the Heisman trophy, and the other a murderer of eight innocent people in a shopping mall in Nebraska.  Tim Tebow, the athlete, modestly thanked everyone who had helped him achieve his success, including God, while the murderer sought fame on the cheap, simply by destroying innocent lives.           (click to read more)

Another Gun Tragedy – Call GUN11              By Cliff Johns

Again, a horrific tragedy has occurred when another nut got a gun and proceeded to murder innocent people.  Only this time it’s not in Beirut, Israel, or Baghdad but in Omaha some six months after Virginia Tech.  Eight good people are dead; five others are wounded.  It is hard to even imagine the loss and grief that means for so many families, friends, relatives and communities.    Each time people in these communities and everywhere ask “how can this happen here?”  While we empathize, cry and mourn at the losses, we know deep down it can happen anywhere, including where we live.          (click to read more)

Romney Hits It Out Of The Park          By: Michael A. Minton

For anyone who has been in a cave or a coma for the past 24 hours, Mitt Romney on Thursday gave the speech of a lifetime. At least, a political lifetime, as he is in the fight of his political life. And as fights go, I would have to give Gov. Romney the Heavyweight Title for his inspirational speech.          (click to read more)

Are You Anti-American?            John Holshouser

If an American is defined as one who believes in the U.S. Constitution and the principals the country was founded and built on, then an American believes that the Central Government is there to provide a common defense for “Independent, Sovereign” States and to regulate interstate commerce, and little else. The founding fathers wrote about the dangers of ever letting the central government become involved in confiscating people’s property and distributing it to others. They warned that this “Largess” would be the downfall of the country if it was ever allowed. The central government was clearly blocked from being involved in education, medicine, or any other form of welfare. The president of the U.S. is mainly there as a military leader. Congress is supposed to meet one to two weeks per year, during the fall, and should never receive a salary or other benefits from confiscated property of the citizens. Power flows down from the states to the central government, not the other way around.          (click to read more)

School board's pillow talk punishes parents and students            By Jim Waters

Some school-board members exhibit more passion for what happens in a teacher’s bedroom than in the teacher’s classroom.

If they focused more on improving Kentucky schools, parents would sleep a lot better.          (click to read more)

Not in My Country         By: Michael A. Minton

I received a very interesting email today from Americans For Legal Immigration (http://www.alipac.us/index.html), which shows that an overwhelming majority of Americans DO NOT support what the majority of elected officials are trying to shove down the taxpayer’s throat…benefits for illegal immigrants.          (click to read more)

We cannot generate electricity with hot air from politicians eager to create tax breaks, subsidies and “renewable energy mandates” for companies that produce alternative energy technologies – in exchange for campaign contributions from those companies…Poor and minority families can least afford such “energy policies.” Roy Innis

At least brown-shirts of the right were easily identified by their armbands, funny walk and public book-burnings. Brown-shirts of the left continue to profess their devotion to free speech while squashing the First Amendment under a hobnailed boot. – Don Feder

Wherever is found what is called a paternal government, there is found state education. It has been discovered that the best way to insure implicit obedience is to commence tyranny in the nursery. — Benjamin Disraeli, Speech in the House of Commons [June 15, 1874]
