"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever.  But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with."

--Ronald Reagan

“Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924)

[A]d hominem labels are the left's primary rhetorical weapons. So when leftist students are actually confronted with even one articulate conservative, many enter a world of cognitive dissonance. That is one reason why universities rarely invite conservatives to speak: they might change some students' minds. – Dennis Prager

A New Perspective on The Moslem World (Reviewing Infidel, by Ayaan Hirsi Ali)             By Theresa Camoriano

There have been a couple of incidents in the news recently in Moslem countries that would have seemed totally irrational to me in the past.  However, after reading Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the puzzle pieces are beginning to fall into place and make sense for me.            (click to read more)

The good faces of education shouldn't get a nose job            By Jim Waters

The Kentucky Board of Education thumbed its nose at Gov.-elect Steve Beshear, who wanted to slow down the selection process for a new education commissioner.

Beshear said he thought some good candidates didn’t apply because of the contentious gubernatorial campaign. But he overestimates the involvement of politics and underestimates the obstacles to attracting quality candidates created by an education bureaucracy so bloated it can’t bend over and touch its toes – a body part unseen for decades.             (click to read more)

Uncle Sam wants you to shut up, pay and obey Posted in Liberty Rant by R Lee Wrights on November 27th, 2007              by Donna Mancini

I am 56 years old. To many of you I could be your Mother. Actually, my own now 28-year-old son first introduced me to My Space (blogging), signed me up and got me started.

When I was in high school and college sex, drugs, rock n’ roll, smoking, trans fats, seat belts, helmets, bigoted aka hate speech, bullying (whatever that means), protesting, and other assorted activities were either right or wrong from a social, moral or health perspective. However, your personal behavior was guided by “Miss Manners,” your doctor, your momma, your religion, plus a hefty dose of your conscience and common sense, but not the government and its “rule enforcers” known as the police!            (click to read more)

Feds in the classroom: Evolution of a big-government nightmare          A book review by Jim Waters

Neal McCluskey’s first book, “Feds in the Classroom: How Big Government Corrupts, Cripples, and Compromises American Education” (Rowman & Littlefield, June 2006), reads as both a historical treatise and a journal of current events. But the two strains are not mutually exclusive.            (click to read more)

Major Mark Smith Seeks Nobel and Oscar          Edited by Jeff “Mario” Smith, Guerilla Reporter      By Major Mark Smith, Retired

Note: While this rant is written somewhat in jest, it is actually not very far off base. For years, I have contended that much PTSD was caused, not so much by actual battlefield experiences although that form of PTSD does exist, but by the lack of support form the very Americans whom these protectors of Liberty serve here at home. With a mainstream media that, since the Vietnam War, takes it as its mission to treasonously do everything they can to destroy our efforts it would take an extremely mentally superior individual not to be negatively affected.             (click to read more)

Governments should reject calls for a post-Kyoto treaty “Kyoto 2”  Civil Society Report says climate policy should focus on removing barriers to adaptation        By Khalil Ahmad

Lahore November 27, 20007: A new Report produced by a coalition of over 40 prominent civil society organisations from 33 countries says that governments should reject calls for a post-Kyoto treaty (“Kyoto 2”) with binding limits on carbon emissions. The report says a better strategy would be to focus on removing barriers to adaptation, such as subsidies, taxes and regulations that hinder technological innovation and economic growth.            (click to read more)

Don’t Force Taxpayers To Subsidize Games         By Jeff “Mario” Smith

Kudos to Dawn Cloyd for this excellent and correct observation.

DON'T FORCE FAMILIES TO SUPPORT HORSEMEN

I read in the Nov. 20 paper that the Horsemen arena-football team is asking the Urban County Government to subsidize parking and concessions to get more people to the games.            (click to read more)

Mine eyes have not seen the glory, but I’ve heard about it           By Jim Waters

Now that Steve Beshear has stopped campaigning, he’s going to have to start articulating – about his plans to address serious challenges facing Kentucky’s economy and public schools.

The new governor must successfully transition from campaigning against an unpopular incumbent to working for sound policy that improves the lot of all Kentuckians. That means the interests of labor unions, social liberals and other special groups must become secondary to the betterment of the entire commonwealth.             (click to read more)

The Month Before Christmas  (Source Unknown)

'Twas the month before Christmas when all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying nor taking a stand.
Why the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

If the Democrats were truly motivated to preserve our freedoms, they wouldn't be threatening the revival of the Fairness Doctrine to harness the power of government to undermine conservative talk radio in complete derogation of free political speech -- the most protected category of speech under the Constitution. They wouldn't be salivating over the prospect of instituting nationalized health care under cover of "helping the children." – David Limbaugh

The family unit is the foundation of civilization. Healthy families are the basis of a strong and stable society. As the family goes, so goes the nation.  – Ken Conner

It would seem that young people are not hook-up machines, but are human beings who desire real intimacy and emotional connection. Toward that end, parents might buy Grossman's book for their children -- and themselves. – Kathleen Parker

Mother Nature is so complex, and so the uncertainties are great, and then to hear someone speak with such certainty and such confidence about what the climate is going to do is - well, I suppose I could be kind and say, it's annoying to me. – John Cristy (climate scientist on UN panel)
