With government money come strings – John Stossel http://townhall.com/columnists/JohnStossel/2007/11/07/with_government_money_come_strings
Academic cesspools II – Walter Williams A white University of Delaware student might not have an ounce of ill will toward any race. According to the university's document, he's a racist anyway. http://townhall.com/columnists/WalterEWilliams/2007/11/07/academic_cesspools_ii
Life is not a defined benefit – Star Parker Chile's social security privatization -- if I may use the word that politicians, even the conservative ones, choke on these days -- has been a driving piston in Chile's economic engine, now the most powerful in Latin America. … The entitlements crisis is a moral crisis and we ought to grasp that ownership is part of the "values" agenda. Life is not a defined benefit. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/StarParker/2007/11/05/life_is_not_a_defined_benefit
Was Hitler a Christian? – Dinesh D’Souza Hitler’s Table Talk, a revealing collection of the Fuhrer’s private opinions, assembled by a close aide during the war years, shows Hitler to be rabidly anti-religious. He called Christianity one of the great “scourges” of history, and said of the Germans, “Let’s be the only people who are immunized against this disease.” He promised that “through the peasantry we shall be able to destroy Christianity.” In fact, he blamed the Jews for inventing Christianity. He also condemned Christianity for its opposition to evolution. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/DineshDSouza/2007/11/05/was_hitler_a_christian
Putting the leash of the Constitution back on the President – George Will Unless and until Congress stops prattling about presidential "usurpation" of power and asserts its own, it will remain derelict regarding its duty of mutual participation in warmaking. And it will merit its current marginalization. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/GeorgeWill/2007/11/04/a_leash_on_the_executive

How Government Greed Raises College Tuitions – Rich Tucker Government interference distorts the market, forcing people to pay more for college, milk, corn and all subsidized products. Meanwhile, it forces taxpayers to shell out money to support things that people were going to pay for, anyway. It’s time for our country to have more greed and less government. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/RichTucker/2007/11/02/government__greed_an_appalling_alliance
When Hillary Comes To A Fork in the Road She Takes It http://www.townhall.com/columnists/JonahGoldberg/2007/11/02/a_few_questions,_senator_clinton
The Jindal Message – Michael Steele Throughout his campaign, Mr. Jindal advocated creating jobs by eliminating taxes that prevent job creators from entering the marketplace and expanding their businesses. In addition, he stressed the importance of streamlining Louisiana's regulatory process to make it fair, predictable and transparent. But perhaps what resonated most with voters was his honest acknowledgment of Louisiana's struggle to deal effectively with crime and corruption and his willingness to target the underlying causes of most crimes and to aggressively pursue remedies that will have a long-lasting positive impact. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/MichaelSteele/2007/11/02/the_jindal_message
What has atheism done for us? Dinesh D’Souza One of the most interesting questions in the debate was posed to Hitchens by a man from Tonga. Before the Christians came to Tonga, he said, the place was a mess. Even cannibalism was widespread. The Christians stopped this practice and brought to Tonga the notion that each person has a soul and God loves everyone equally. The man from Tonga asked Hitchens, "So what do you have to offer us?" http://townhall.com/columnists/DineshDSouza/2007/10/31/what_has_atheism_done_for_us

Corporate power blesses not oppresses the American People – Michael Medved In the free market system, the boss Peter can’t benefit long term at the expense of his employee, Paul. They either prosper together or fail together. Increased profitability brings increases in capital that allow increases in productivity – directly and simultaneously rewarding management and labor (not to mention the public at large). Political demagogues who rail against “immoral” or “obscene” profits need courses in remedial economics. For a corporation, only a lack of profitability counts as immoral and going out of business represents the ultimate obscenity. … Yes, corporate power frequently corrupts government, and government power even more frequently corrupts and warps corporations, but the best way to avoid this mutually destructive influence is to bring about less bureaucratic involvement in the free market, not to insist on more. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/MichaelMedved/2007/10/17/corporate_power_blesses,_not_oppresses,_the_american_people
Are the poor getting poorer? – Walter Williams What do you think distinguishes the high and low poverty populations? The only statistical distinction between both the black and white populations is marriage. There is far less poverty in married-couple families, where presumably at least one of the spouses is employed. Fully 85 percent of black children living in poverty reside in a female-headed household. http://townhall.com/columnists/WalterEWilliams/2007/10/31/are_the_poor_getting_poorer
Science versus symbolism Contrary to the scaremongering being pushed by the media today, few credible scientists would stake their careers, no less the world economy, on predictions of disasters due to human-induced climate change. In fact, there is a long list of credible scientists who have staked their careers and reputations on questioning climate change, and their stories can be found in a wonderful series written by Lawrence Sullivan of the Canada Post. Climate change skeptics include even Al Gore’s mentor, Dr. Roger Revelle. When Revelle disagreed with Gore, Gore insisted that he was senile. … So let me suggest a better trip for Governor Pawlenty than the one to the Arctic this spring: try living a Minnesota winter without the power and heat sources that emit carbon dioxide. Try eating only locally produced food in the middle of Winter. Avoid using the State car and walk to the Capitol some morning when it is 30 below zero outside. Because that is what life would be like if the policies he is proposing truly were enforced. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/DavidStrom/2007/11/02/science_vs_symbolism
Abortion’s shades of gray – Michael Medved Consider, for instance, the key differences between Giuliani's platform and those of the leading Democratic candidates. Giuliani has committed to preserve the Hyde Amendment, banning taxpayer money for abortions; the top Democrats urge repeal and favor federal funding. Giuliani applauded the recent Supreme Court decision upholding a ban on partial-birth abortion; all leading Democrats condemned it in harsh terms. The former mayor supports tougher rules requiring parental notification (with a judicial bypass) for underage girls who seek abortions; Clinton and Barack Obama oppose such legislation. Most significant of all, Giuliani has specifically cited strict-constructionists Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito and John Roberts as his models for future justices of the Supreme Court — and all three of those jurists have signaled their support for allowing states more leeway in limiting abortions. The top Democrats regularly express contempt for the conservative jurists whom Giuliani admires, and worked against the Alito and Roberts nominations. http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2007/10/abortions-shade.html
Christians should support constitutional government = Pastor Chuck Baldwin Most of the problems that we are now dealing with socially, culturally, financially, etc., stem from America abandoning the basic founding principle that "the government that governs least governs best." http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin410.htm
It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. – Dennis Prager http://www.townhall.com/columnists/DennisPrager/2007/10/30/the_left_and_the_term_islamo-fascism
Political “solutions” – Thomas Sowell The same severe government restrictions on building that drive home prices sky high also lead to vast areas with nothing but trees and bushes. Where it doesn't rain for months, that's dangerous. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/ThomasSowell/2007/10/30/political_solutions
The patent act is a cheat on Americans – Phyllis Schlafly http://www.townhall.com/columnists/PhyllisSchlafly/2007/10/29/the_patent_act_is_a_cheat_on_americans
Utahns Can Vote For School Choice on Tuesday – John Stossel The answer to mediocre public schooling isn't to give a government monopoly more "teacher development programs." The answer is competition. … Vouchers will make schools accountable to parents rather than a bureaucracy. Principals and administrators will have to convince parents that they are doing a good job. That's real accountability. http://townhall.com/columnists/JohnStossel/2007/10/31/utahns_can_vote_for_school_choice_tuesday
