Louisville Library Tax Proposal -  Employees of the Louisville Library have been promoting the library tax referendum during working hours, while they were being paid by the taxpayers.  In short, they have used our hard-earned tax money to lobby against us for still higher taxes.  Kentucky Senator Seum is proposing a law that will make it illegal for government employees to use taxpayer resources for lobbying purposes.  This certainly is an area in which the playing field needs to be leveled so the taxpayers are not constantly at a disadvantage.  For more information about plans to improve the library system without new taxes, see the following:

C-J Editorial Opposing School Choice – A recent C-J editorial argues that the Bluegrass Institute is wrong to promote school choice in Kentucky because test scores are beginning to show some improvement.  That is like arguing that the abolitionists should not have opposed slavery because the owners were beginning to treat their slaves a bit better!
