Old Libertarian Ho’ reflects on the Politically Incorrect  Good Old Days

 By Donna Mancini

“ Damn, I wish I could get someone Rich and Famous to insult me on Prime time TV…”

When I was a kid, and people said” mean” things about you, the basic comeback was  " it takes one to call one", or "I don't care what you call me as long as you call me to dinner " and went on with your business!!   Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me “ was the received wisdom of   the day.

All this seriousness and carrying on about what some “paid to be crude” entertainer says about you in jest is so ridiculous it’s unbelievable!

If you are offended, vote with your clicker.

Making a “Federal Case” over Imus just exaggerates his importance, as if he were some kind of moral role model for Pete's sake.

Don't people have a real life or a sense of humor any more?  By the way, I grew up in the sixties and seventies, with Archie Bunker and Truly Tasteless Joke's books. Polish jokes and  even Helen Keller insults  were BIG!  We cracked on Jews being cheap, and WASPS getting out of the shower to pee.  There was a song about short people having no reason to live.  On TV   we had People are Funny and   Candid Camera, where people were secretly filmed doing stupid stuff. There were shows about Rednecks, Hillbillies, and a Singer named Don” HO.” J

NOW, all of a sudden, our so called LEADERS   are worried about racism, sexism and” HATE “speech?

I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble, but some human beings have been ornery and nasty to people who are different than  they are since the beginning of time! . Exposing prejudice will do more to alleviate the problem, than keeping it hidden  and  pretending it does not exist.  Also, the new politically correct world is making many people so nervous that they avoid being in the company of folks of various races, colors and creeds, for fear of opening mouth and inserting FOOT!!  This of course causes more   resentment and makes matters worse instead of better.  For it is   only when people get to know each other they become Genuine friends.

Last, but not least: a BAD example is the best teacher.  Being seen as a bigot or a racist just shows how stupid you are.

I was at the Kentucky Derby a long time ago, and we were singing my old Kentucky home as origionally  written by Stephen Foster:

“The sun shines Bright, on my old Kentucky Home,

Tis summer the darkies are gay…”

There was a group of  " AFRICAN-AMERICANS” sitting in front   of me who were cracking up ROTF laughing, and  I quote,  ” It was bad enough being called Darkies,  but did they have to call us Gay, too?” They could have cared less. They wanted to have FUN.  Everyone was cracking up together. We all made friends and hugged each other when someone’s horse came in....  Of course we were all DRUNK! J

Anyway:  Here is my  Letter to the Editor  that was printed by  the Courier- Journal, my friendly Hometown Newspaper…

LIBERTARIAN HO seeks FAME:

Imus can call me any kind of "HO" he wants on his prime time TV show. If my hair is not nappy enough, I've got really bad teeth which look like Vampire fangs he can crack on, as well as a painfully whinny voice.
Of course I would prefer he call me "that Freedom Loving Libertarian HO from Louisville", and then flash my web site on the screen.

"Sticks and Stones can break my bones; but words can never hurt me".

Freedom Works!
