“[State controlled] education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” – Joseph Stalin
"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever. But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with." --Ronald Reagan
“Give me four
years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be
uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924) |
This past Monday night, a gunman walked into a popular Salt Lake City mall and opened fire with a shotgun. The trench coat-clad gunman was heavily armed and intended to kill as many people as he could. He killed five people before being challenged by an armed off-duty police officer. Once again, a gun saved lives. – Chuck Baldwin
Bully For The Kentucky Legislature By Theresa Fritz Camoriano The Kentucky legislature’s recent efforts to combat bullying in the public schools are admirable. No child should be subjected to bullying, and teachers should be taught strategies to protect students. The tone of a classroom is set at the top, namely by the teacher, so one of the best strategies is for teachers to model the behavior they want to see in students by treating all students with respect. In addition, if the legislature really wants to set an anti-bullying tone from the top, it should begin to model that behavior itself by treating all students, parents, and other citizens with respect rather than bullying them. CON law shrinks health-care’s ‘Iron Triangle' By Dr. Kevin T. Kavanagh Kentucky law states that the purpose of the state’s Certificate of Need policy is “to improve quality and increase access to health-care facilities, services and providers, and to create a cost-efficient health-care delivery system.” The goals are clear: cost, quality and access – often referred to as the “Iron Triangle” of health care. The theory goes that increasing emphasis on one of the three might decrease the outcome of the other two. But Kentucky’s CON policy actually reduces the size of the entire triangle. What About Public School? by Gena Suarez from The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, Winter 2006-7 The more we read and listen, the more Paul and I feel convicted that public schools are simply not an option for Christian kids. Parents must take a look at the risks of sending their children off for eight hours a day -- to a godless system: one that not only lacks the Lord Jesus Christ, but hates the Lord Jesus Christ. God is not welcome there; in fact, He is despised. (click to read more)
Representative Sheldon Baugh Endorses Stan Lee for Attorney General [Frankfort, KY] In a statement of support, Representative Sheldon Baugh (R-16) endorsed Stan Lee for Attorney General today. “Representative Stan Lee is the right person for this very important job. During his time in the legislature, Stan has been a leader we can be proud of and has found conservative solutions to our toughest of problems. As Attorney General, Stan will be tough, but fair. He will put politics aside and will focus on making the Commonwealth safer for all,” said Representative Sheldon Baugh. (click to read more)
“Taxing unprofitable businesses, whether they’re based in Kentucky or have headquarters elsewhere, is not the way to improve this state’s business climate. Further we shouldn’t discourage out-of-state businesses from operating here, hiring Kentucky workers and contributing to the state’s economic development. What’s clear to me – and a large portion of the state’s manufacturers – is that the Alternative Minimum Tax is bad for businesses operating in Kentucky, no matter where they call home. I’ve learned this through first-hand experience as an owner and operator of manufacturing businesses in Kentucky and other states. (click to read more)
Anna Nicole: Famous For Being Famous By Jonathan David Morris The only thing weirder than Anna Nicole Smith dropping dead at the age of 39 is how her death somehow inspired several days of wall-to-wall news coverage. This is a woman who by most accounts was “famous for being famous.” At the end of the day, “famous for being famous” is a nice way of saying no one’s really sure why we knew who she was. While the left in America is working in tandem with the radical Muslims to defeat Bush in Iraq, the right should ally with the traditional Muslims to thwart this “war against the war on terror.” The traditional Muslims are the one group that can help us defeat radical Islam, and we would see this if we stopped looking for allies in all the wrong places. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." ---Benjamin Franklin "If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretence of taking care of them, they must become happy." -- Thomas Jefferson There was one refreshing aspect to Obama's announcement: It was nice to see a man call a press conference this week to announce something other than he was the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby. Ann Coulter
"Whenever you find you are on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect." ---Mark Twain
