“[State controlled] education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” – Joseph Stalin

"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever.  But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with."

--Ronald Reagan

“Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924)

We must teach what Professor Viktor Frankl concluded after surviving Auschwitz:  There are only two races of human beings, the decent and the indecent. – Dennis Prager

Legal Abuse         By Theresa Fritz Camoriano

As a lawyer and a citizen, I am very upset to see our legal system being used as a means of torture rather than as a means to achieve justice.  The recent case involving the Duke Lacrosse players and the Scooter Libby case are just two examples in which overzealous prosecutors have abused the system and caused tremendous unjust suffering.          (click to read more)

QUESTIONS AND STUFF        By Terry Gray

*How can our local government destroy someone’s acquittal without destroying his arrest record?  Thousands of Jefferson County criminal records dated 2001 and before were recently destroyed.  In order to engage and enrage the public, we were told that people who had been acquitted of crimes would be hard pressed to prove the acquittals.  Doesn’t an acquittal come AFTER an arrest?  “Sir, can you prove that you were acquitted of this offense?”  What offense, if the acquittal was destroyed, then the arrest record should also have been destroyed. Not the other way around, unless of course we are speaking of Ernie Fletcher’s staff, who were acquitted before any charges were filed.           (click to read more)

The Death of Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.  He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life
isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

"There are four ways in which you can spend money. You can spend your own money on yourself. When you do that, why then you really watch out what you're doing, and you try to get the most for your money. Then you can spend your own money on somebody else. For example, I buy a birthday present for someone. Well, then I'm not so careful about the content of the present, but I'm very careful about the cost. Then, I can spend somebody else's money on myself. And if I spend somebody else's money on myself, then I'm sure going to have a good lunch! Finally, I can spend somebody else's money on somebody else. And if I spend somebody else's money on somebody else, I'm not concerned about how much it is, and I'm not concerned about what I get. And that's government. And that's close to 40% of our national income." – Milton Friedman

"[A] Congress with power to do whatever would be for the good of the United States... as they would be the sole judges of the good or evil, it would be also a power to do whatever evil they please." ---Thomas Jefferson

Free State Project

"Cutting government spending and government intrusion in the economy will almost surely involve immediate gain for the many, short-term pain for the few, and long-term gain for all." ---Milton Friedman
