“[State controlled] education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” – Joseph Stalin
"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever. But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with." --Ronald Reagan
“Give me four
years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be
uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924) |
The Constitution does not specify how long the State of the Union address must be. You know who gave the longest State of the Union address ever? Bill Clinton. You know who gave the shortest? George Washington. It was just a couple of minutes. Well sure, when a politician cannot tell a lie, it limits how much they can say. Clinton could go on for hours. — Jay Leno
Government’s Bite Is Worse Than Its Bark By Theresa Fritz Camoriano Louisville’s new dog ordinance is another example of government’s bite being much worse than its bark. After a couple of people in Louisville were tragically mauled by dangerous dogs, a local elected official barked that “something needs to be done”, and so, by golly, something was done! As a result, the Louisville Metro Council passed an ordinance that will put a serious bite on many good, law-abiding folks in the area. (click to read more)
Minimum wage = Minimum help for the poor or A higher minimum wage: Why would you want to hurt any poor people? By D. Eric Schansberg After the November elections—with the return of a Democratic majority in the U.S. Congress and the Indiana State House—the minimum wage is receiving maximum attention. Applauded as everything from an effective poverty-fighting tool to the epitome of economic justice, a higher minimum wage is popular with politicians and the general public. But economists point to the demographics of the lowest-paid workers and note that small business owners may be unwilling to pay higher wages for the same productivity. (click to read more)
Statement from Billy Harper on the Governor’s comments on Ford: "The Governor’s proposal to extend tax incentives to Ford in order to preserve jobs in Kentucky begs the question of why he won't repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax, which is driving the jobs out of Kentucky in the first place. "If you assail the right of the people to honor God, then you assail the first principle of their self-government, which is that we are endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights leading to the consequence that the only form of government that is legitimate is a form of government that respects those God-given rights. No God, no republic. No God, no representation. No God, no due process. No God, no sanctity of individual rights, liberty, and life. The denial of God is an assault not only upon the people's conscience, but upon their claim to have from God the right to govern themselves through representative institutions. The triumph of this false doctrine of separation, therefore, portends not only the persecution of our faith, but the destruction of our liberty." ---Alan Keyes
