“[State controlled] education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” – Joseph Stalin
"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever. But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with." --Ronald Reagan
“Give me four
years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be
uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924) |
You don't abolish charity by calling it something else. If a person is getting health care for nothing, simply because he is breathing, he is still getting charity, whether or not President Clinton calls it a "right." To call it a Right when the recipient did not earn it is merely to compound the evil. It is charity still -- though now extorted by criminal tactics of force, while hiding under a dishonest name. - -Leonard Peikoff
Surprise! (Or not) By Theresa Fritz Camoriano It doesn’t surprise me that a study has found conservatives to be much more generous with their own money than liberals. After all, liberals are the ones who want to tax everyone else to support their causes! In a recent letter to the editor of our local paper, a liberal writer said he would be happy to be taxed more to help the unfortunate if the government were more efficient and less corrupt. There are a few problems with his position. First, taxation is not a voluntary thing. (click to read more)
New Government-Sponsored Education Study Profiles Minorities By Ed Basquill The US government did a new study that should be controversial, because it profiles minorities. The study assigns “levels” to minority groups, in an experiment designed to show no difference in education methods when racial profiling is taken into account. (click to read more)
Franklin and Jefferson, Deists or Christians? By Jeff “Mario” Smith, Guerilla Reporter Recently, while blogging on Kentucky Progress, a liberal responded to my statement that America was founded upon Christian principles established by God and handed down to humanity in the form of the Holy Bible. After attacking my character, a common tactic of the left when they have no argument against the truth, which is always, the “anonymous” poster claimed Jefferson and Franklin were deists. This is an oft repeated myth I hear almost daily. (click to read more)
Dick and Donna Go to the Pharmacy By Donna Mancini Freedom Lovers: Tonight I experienced the Nanny State to the Hilt ; In all its infinite wisdom and Glory........ My husband had the misfortune of getting the " common cold" and a sore throat over the weekend, and after bumming 2 cold pills from his sister, who was visiting from Ohio , we decided to go to Walgreens to get some Yummy Caramel Drumsticks on sale ( 8/$5.00), and OUR OWN cold pills......... Death of the Last RINO President By Rod D. Martin, 1 January 2007 Many others have said plenty this week about Gerald Ford’s virtues, and about them there is surely much to be said. But perhaps the most significant thing for conservatives to note is that Ford was the last RINO (Republican In Name Only) President; or more precisely, the last President from the Party’s Rockefeller Republican wing. As has been proved time and again, there are not enough rich anywhere to make a dent in the government's costs; it is the vast middle class in the U.S. that is the only source of the kind of money that national programs like government health care require. – Leonard Peikoff

"President George W. Bush has endorsed an increase in the minimum wage... Government wage-setting is supported by organized labor, and not for the purpose of helping poor people. Rather, the goal is to put out of work lesser-trained, low-wage competitors to union members. We need a Republican president to help labor do this?" ---Doug Bandow We must reject the idea that doctors are slaves destined to serve others at the behest of the state. – Leonard Peikoff "So our job is to make the Iraqis get busy and forget. 'You know, I meant to kill all those other people but, well, jeez, I had to get the kids off to school, the car was filthy and I had to take it down to the car wash, the dog got sick on the rug. Killing all those Shiites is still on my to-do list . . .'" -- P.J. O’Rourke
