What Does The MSM Want You To Think Today? By Jeff “Mario” Smith, Guerilla Reporter December 6, In the year of our Lord 2006
My wife continues to throw money away by purchasing a daily subscription to the Lexington Herald Leader, a paper I affectionately (not) call the LEFTington Heraldo-Liberal or Herald-Misleader, take your pick. She thinks she can read it and make up her own mind about things, but she is wrong.
Although I have educated her as to the slant and agenda of our liberal mainstream press, what she does not understand enough to seek outside sources, is that their most powerful tool of mind-control, or the control of public opinion if you will, is omission. That’s right; the most powerful tool in the arsenal of leftist assault against Western Civilization is what the mainstream press refuses to tell us, what they omit.
Be that as it may, I thought it would be an interesting exercise to dissect today’s “news rag” from the perspective of layout and topic. We will leave the slant to the reader to determine. I could have picked a couple of other papers this week that might have been better examples since they had University of Kentucky Sports on the front page as opposed to where entertainment belongs, and that is on the sports page. Knowing that our society is entertainment-drunk, it serves the mainstream press and those whose agendas they promote, to entertain the sheeple (public that are led like sheep by their shepherds in the press) as opposed to reporting the hard facts of what is going on in the world, facts that really matter.
So, let’s look at the LEFTington Heraldo-Liberal (http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/) and see what is on the menu as pabulum for the sheeple today, December 6, in the year of our Lord 2006.
Front Page Above The Fold (newspaper talk for the most important place in any paper) · New York bans trans fat – The Fat Nazis in New York are following the lead of the Smoke Nazis and it won’t be long until the Refrigerator Nazis come knocking on your door saying, “May vee zee youah refrigeratah pleeze” armed with M4’s. · Restaurants fear bleak New Year’s - Duh! Smoking is banned, and now trans fats are banned and people might just be getting a little tired of big brother getting into every aspect of their lives. But the article focuses on those evil old Christian based laws that called for no work on Sundays but have been watered down to shorter hours on Sundays. Soon there will be nothing one cannot do on Sundays. Let the strip clubs open! · Job hike for Chief Beatty in works – Apparently Mayor-elect Jim Newberry is sucking up to the Chief of Police so the Chief can take a job supervising his own son. Not discussed is the fact that Chief Beatty has a fantastic pension and there are many other qualified candidates who could take this job. But politics being what they are…
Front Page Below The Fold (newspaper talk for the2nd most important place in any paper) · George Zack to leave the podium – LEFTington’s beloved King of Entertainment is retiring. Surely, this is more important than world events like North Korea, Iran, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the rest, right? Why put this on the city/region section when it can be a front and center distraction? · Ex-teacher accused of sex abuse - This is probably the only article on today’s front page that deserves its place. I am not so sure the article is saying enough about this problem, from whence it came, those in positions of responsibility that let it happen, or what should really be done about it, but at least it made the front page. Of course, is he really guilty? We cannot say until it plays out in a court of law, and maybe even then not, but he is convicted in the mind of the public already thanks to the placement of this article. That, unfortunately, is how it works. This is not to say sex offenders shouldn’t be neutered. · A tickler (newspaper talk for putting headlines on the front page that appear elsewhere) Today’s ticklers point to articles about: Panel OKs Bush’s Defense nominee – This article, arguably important enough to be above the fold on page one, is buried in the Nation World section on page A16 with a headline that reads “Democrats eye war funds as leverage – Could set conditions for OK of Bush request”. This will be a fun article to read that exposes the agenda of the mainstream press. I am sure it takes the totally wrong angle and leaves much out. They always do. · Ripples likely in desegregation case – This article, probably taking the wrong angle also, is buried on page C1 of the City Region section titled “Fayette schools eye race-based admissions case – Outcome may affect magnet policy”. The magnet schools are taxpayer funded schools to promote things like acting, musical careers, and other fields of study that some students apparently excel in.
Well grasshoppers, that is just the front page dissected and each of these articles can provide a wealth of information as to the agenda of the media in their slant and approach by how they are written, as well as where they are placed, and the headlines and sub headlines they receive. It would be exhausting for me to go any further with this very basic study of the problem we have with the mainstream press, mainly that they decide what we talk about, and to a very serious degree what the sheeple think about what they talk about.
They do this by choosing what to report, how to report it, where to place it in the paper, and what headline and sub headline to give it. However grasshoppers their most powerful tool, as mentioned above is what they do not report. Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media goes in depth on a few special topics like the current push to have an Al Qaida Propaganda Network right here in the good old USA.
Here are some trusted places you can go to see what they aren’t reporting, how they are slanting what they report, and what they are omitting. Seek and ye shall find.
Human Events The Washington Times World Net Daily
Accuracy in Media The John Birch Society American Heritage Research
Ed Watch Keep and Bear Arms Eagle Forum
Focus on the Family Judicial Watch Newsmax
National Review Front Page Magazine Gun Owners of America
JPFO EIB Network Kentuckians for the Right to bear Arms
That’s a start and there are lots more, many very specific to one issue. If we don’t look beyond the mainstream media, we will lose, plain and simple. Thank God the internet has opened up a wealth of information to the world, much good, but unfortunately much bad also. You have to be able to decipher the facts from the propaganda and that is not easy. Reading books, not propaganda books, but books that educate will help immensely. A good place to start after the Holy Bible, the foundation of truth, would be ”None Dare Call It Treason 25 Years Later” by John A. Stormer.
If you like videos, you simply MUST view America’s Censored Heritage by Dr. Michael Chapman and The Siege of Western Civilization by Herb Meyer, excellent investments in knowledge.
Matt 24:4 (KJV) “...Take heed that no man deceive you.” Luke 20:46 (KJV) “Beware of the scribes…”
