The Deconstructionist Thanksgiving

By Jeff “Mariio” Smith, Guerilla Reporter

November 21, In the Year of our Lord 2006

“Inasmuch as the great Father has given us this year an abundant harvest of Indian corn, wheat, peas, beans, squashes, and garden vegetables, and has made the forests to abound with game and the sea with fish and clams, and inasmuch as he has protected us from the ravages of the savages, has spared us from pestilence and disease, has granted us freedom to worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience.

Now I, your magistrate, do proclaim that all ye Pilgrims, with your wives and ye little ones, do gather at ye meeting house, on ye hill, between the hours of 9 and 12 in the day time, on Thursday, November 29th, of the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and twenty-three and the third year since ye Pilgrims landed on ye Pilgrim Rock, there to listen to ye pastor and render thanksgiving to ye Almighty God for all His blessings.”

-- William Bradford, Ye Governor of Ye Colony, November 29th, 1623

There you have it. Thanksgiving is, and was from its inception, a time to give thanks to the Creator for all his wonderful blessings. It is not, as Robert Bartlett author of a wonderfully illustrated children’s book displayed at local “Christian” bookstores, titled The Story of Thanksgiving, states therein.

Bartlett deconstructs Thanksgiving in his book by stating the Pilgrims were celebrating “good fortune,” using ancient traditions from the Greeks, Romans, Jews, and early European pagan harvest festivals. He further states the settlers had no religious cohesion. Bartlett argues Thanksgiving was not a “holy day,” because that would have required fasting as opposed to feasting.

This is all part of the ongoing attack against Western Civilization through multiculturalism. Start reading your child’s social studies books and literature assignments. You will find them very revealing. The real goal of multiculturalism is to intentionally demote Western Civilization’s ideas and culture, especially our Judeo-Christian heritage. The groups we are supposed to believe have been exploited become prominent, while our traditional American Heritage is censored.

In the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, on the required high school reading list, is a book called “The Power of Myth”, by Joseph Campbell, who was the founder of the New Age religion, vehemently anti-Christian. He claimed Jesus to be part of Greek mythology, called Christ’s resurrection a “clown-act”, and stated He could not have ascended to heaven as there is no physical evidence to that fact. This sounds like another “scientist” who doesn’t believe in Creation, but does believe in global warming, a real myth that has no physical proof.

After reading Campbell’s book, as well as other equally direct attacks on Christianity, the High school student has to respond to the following:

• What are your religious beliefs (if any)?
• Be able to justify a personal position on the question of the existence of God.
• On what basis do spiritual beliefs rest?
• Is it a set of beliefs you have come to yourself, or one that you have absorbed from your culture unquestioningly?
• What is the role of myth and religion in culture?

Not a single reading selection supportive of the Christian faith is allowed on the IB list. It forces young believers to confront modern New Age theology with no references positive to Christianity. If The International Baccalaureate Program is promoted to your school district, you had better be ready to do your research and just say no. Might I suggest checking out www.edwatch.org for starters?

We are all familiar with the attacks against Christmas, not only in our public school indoctrination centers, but in the workplace and the shopping malls. Few realize just how big the anti-Christian movement is in America, this God-blessed nation founded upon His principles of truth. Ironic indeed, but the slippery slope moving us from a Christian nation to a secular nation is well greased with the enemy’s propaganda, laws, regulations, and minions of dumbed-down sheeple.

This Thanksgiving, read a truthful account of our Thanksgiving heritage to your children, not some book of politically correct propaganda aimed at destroying all that our Founders sacrificed so much to bequeath to us. Of course, if you also don’t know the true history or Thanksgiving either, which is quite possible as this dumbing down has been happening for generations now, do some research outside the politicized textbooks and PC newspaper articles or PC television specials. Be educated as opposed to being propagandized. Whether or not you are a Christian, surely truth matters.

If you see Bartlett’s book of anti-Christian propaganda at an alleged “Christian” bookstore, take it to the counter, demand a manager come out to talk with you, and tell him or her exactly what this book is and why you will not be coming back to that store. Let the truth shine.
