Jeff Smith Fun with Guns
November 18, In the Year of our Lord 2006
Letter To The Editor:
Stephen Shepard’s rant against the “Fun With Guns” episode at UK reminds me yet again that some people just don’t get it. I am not sure they would recognize the importance of firearms even while being led into cattle cars on their way to “work camps”.
Hunting and target shooting are the fun part; protection from tyranny is the reason we will never give them up.
There will always be self-centered people who will use guns, knives, cars, fertilizer, fire, and all means of destruction to harm their fellow man. My liberty will not be infringed based upon the unfounded fears of men who falsely believe that eliminating “assault” weapons magically eradicates criminal acts.
The weapons Shepard rants against may one day protect him from an over-reaching tyrannical government. While the act of shooting pictures of a traitor like John “Ho Chi” Kerry may seem outlandish to some people, it might be merely blowing off steam to others.
I have some items from or about people whom I now consider the “enemy within” like Ronstadt, Mellencamp, Clooney, Penn, Baez, Kerry, and Heinz Ketchup. I plan to shoot them to pieces and record this on digital video to share on the internet. Shepard should lighten up, come along, and blow off steam with us.

Recently, the University of Kentucky's College Republicans held "Fun with Guns" on campus. The very same day, a madman entered a school and killed a lot of people and put many others in the hospital.
The Republican who initially led "Fun with Guns" was none other than Morgan Brooke Wilkins, a student at Jefferson Community and Technical College, who set up a shooting range.
They weren't shooting pictures of Osama bin Laden or other terrorists, but pictures of Americans, such as Sens. Hillary Clinton and John Kerry.
I like guns. I have guns. But they are not toys, they are weapons that kill. Especially assault weapons, which were designed and built to do nothing but kill other human beings. I will say that most Americans are sensible enough to use these weapons responsibly.
"Fun with Guns" is an incredibly irresponsible celebration, especially when you're shooting at pictures of fellow Americans and treating deadly weapons as toys.

Shepard
