Gordon Corbett on Minimum Wage

Dear Resa,

I might know how Andrea feels.  I once had a summer job in the

silverware department of the San Francisco Macy's store.  I worked as

hard as I could, but nothing could please my supervisor.

Sadly, Andrea is but one of a great many Americans who will be

losing their jobs.  It might be instructive, though, to see what sort

of person replaces her.  On the West Coast, in Texas, North Carolina,

or Arizona, a good bet would be that her replacement will be a

Mexican illegal alien.

That is why I call a minimum wage law the "Illegal Aliens Employment Act."  With Bush silently pushing the Security and Prosperity Partnership, furthering Robert Pastor's and the Council on Foreign  Relations' plan for a North American Union, and handcuffing the  Border Patrol, no Patrolman is going to risk unemployment or prison  to expel a few illegal aliens.

I hope that you and yours are well.

      Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Gordon F. Corbett
