The $750,000.00 “Persuasion” in LEFTington By Jeff “Mario” Smith, Guerilla Reporter November 15, In the Year of our Lord 2006
The LFUCG Council is currently debating how to pay off the $750,000.00 loan pushed upon our city by wealthy liberal elitists. Notice that the Council is debating how to pay back the loan as opposed to whether or not to pay the loan off at all.
These wealthy and powerful citizens want to see the well-run privately-owned water company, which has nothing wrong with it, condemned and taken from its present owners by the city. Initially, these people suspiciously remained “in the closet” during most of the divisive turmoil surrounding condemnation of our water utility, but they came “out of the closet” when they cosigned this loan.
They are: millionaire Warren Rosenthal, founder of Jerrico; former liberal Mayor Foster Petit; Leftist State Representative and Lexington Legends co-owner, among other enterprises, Kathy Stein who says the POW MIA Flag represents extremists; attorney Foster Ockerman, Sr., father of the liberal attorney front man for FLOW; former democrat governor Ed T. “Ned” Breathitt; millionaire businessman W. T. Young, Sr.; elderly historian Thomas Clark; wealthy financier Thomas DuPree; former Ford executive John Burkhard; liberal KET co-founder O. Leonard Press; and businessmen Joe Graves and William Sturgill.
These people, in an effort to control the direction of our city with their pocketbooks, backed a loan to the city of $750,000.00, which was to assist the city in seeking condemnation, a process which has divided our city, cost us in the area of $3,000,000.00+, and caused the first defeat for an incumbent Mayor since the city county merger.
The plan offered to the Council yesterday is to use money received from refinancing a bond used to construct the two new lavish courthouses on North Limestone in LEFTington. This is before the city has even officially agreed to refinance the bond, which still needs two more council meetings. Remember folks, bonds are nothing more than borrowing from our future to have today that which we cannot afford. Our children will be paying for all this over-reaching government spending.
This $750,000.00 loan was originally supposed to be rolled into the water bills of LEFTington and surrounding communities once the water company was illegally and unconstitutionally seized. Now, the citizens of LEFTington are left holding the tab thrust upon us by the wealthy elitists who started this mess in the first place. Either way, we were shafted while those who have the means to pay use our money against us.
Back in March of 2005, according to our ever-biased but consistent Heraldo-Liberal, the loan agreement says it is to be repaid “solely from the issuance of bonds or notes to acquire the eminent domain property or from revenues from the project.” Well, guess what? There aren’t going to be any bonds or notes to acquire the property of Kentucky American Water, nor is there going to be any revenue from the project because this communistic plan of “government ownership of the means of production” is not going to happen. Sorry folks, get out your checkbooks. What is the problem? This guerilla reporter takes the position that these moneyed folks knew full well what was at stake when they “backed” the loan to our city in order to push their agenda, which failed overwhelmingly once the average Joe could speak up and vote on it. It is time for these folks to repay the loan for our city. These very folks are celebrated in the liberal press as being “leaders”, “philanthropists”, and “celebrities”. If that were indeed so, would not these people of money be doing the right thing by repaying the very loan they proposed and backed? Philanthropy – sure, as long as it involves a tax deduction and promotes their agenda!
When I co-signed on a loan for a family member years ago, I was stuck with repaying the loan or my credit would have been negatively affected, so I repaid it. What is it about “backing” the loan that these folks don’t understand? Don’t let them fool you; they understood quite well what they were doing by backing the “loan”. They are all well-to-do people in the community who understand financial workings better than we average Joes and use that knowledge to control and obfuscate.
In the end, I predict that the LEFTington Fayette County Urban County Council will not have the chutzpah to do the right thing and will indeed pass this cost on to the citizens. Already our house payment has increased by $48.00 per month thanks to tax increases in Fayette County. The fleecing continues while the sheeple sleep and allow their children’s future to be sold down the river by elitists and gubbament-cheese eaters.
