The Birkenstocks and Bongos Crowd Mourns in LEFTington

or… From FLOW to FLOP

By Jeff “Mario” Smith, Guerilla Reporter

November 8th, In the Year of our Lord 2006

Not being a partaker of the party life, I did something last night I don’t very often do. I went to a gathering to celebrate something that had not yet occurred, but would be final before we dispersed. I attended the “Vote NO on Eminent Domain” celebration held in the Penthouse of the Park Plaza in downtown LEFTington overlooking our Vietnam Veterans Memorial and our Policeman’s Memorial where our POW MIA Flag flies 24/365.

Our black flag remembering those who never returned flies there to the chagrin of one Kathy Stein (D) and Mike Weaver (D) and ex-Mayor Pam Miller who claim it “represents extremists” [Kathy Stein (D) quote] and viciously had it removed from our Old Courthouse. Last night also brought us the retirement from Kentucky politics of the arrogant Mike Weaver (D) who lost his congressional bid to Ken Lucas (R). The excitement was almost too much to handle, but I welcomed it. Now we must retire Kathy Stein.

Noticeably absent at the “NO” gathering were any peace hippies in Birkenstocks beating bongo drums to the tune of taking over our well-run privately-owned water company, or as we call them “the YES people” [aka FLOW/LUV/YES]. These useful idiots of the left thought they were playing a monopoly game and could purchase the water company. The trouble was, it wasn’t for sale like the monopoly board Water Works. But that does not stop liberals who will use any number of means, both legal and illegal, even extortion, to get what they want. The shenanigans that went on nationwide last night from shorting the number of ballots sent to Republicrat precincts by Demonrats in Arizona to missing voting machines in Scott County Kentucky speaks volumes to the methods of liberals.

These “community activists”, remember, rearranging the letters in community activist produces  ”communist activity”, were inspired by a very liberal mayor, one Theresa Isaac, who feverishly rounded up her supporters in a bid to misuse eminent domain in order to condemn KY American. This award-winning company had absolutely nothing wrong with it. As a matter of fact, as a bonus for our citizens and the workers at KY American, our water company is arguably the finest corporate citizen this city is privileged to have in its midst, besides producing a quality product for a very reasonable price.

The YES people used every argument from xenophobia (German ownership), to falsely accusing the company of producing poor quality water (a blatant lie), to accusing the hard-working family people of Kentucky American Water of giving bad service, another blatant lie. This LEFTingtonian has resided in this town since 1979 and has never had the first problem with water quality or service in all that time. As a matter of fact, I hardly knew the water company existed except when I drove past its headquarters on Richmond Road or would see the meter reader come by. Trust me, if I had a problem, they would have heard from me, but they never did. I never had to.

None of the facts about the water company mattered to the Birkenstocks and Bongos crowd as they moved forward to steal this company using slander, lies, omission, and of course, our local Heraldo-Liberal news rag that produced in the neighborhood of 200 editorials justifying the theft of this company. Why? So its profits could go into the bottomless pit of government inefficiency, waste, and corruption.

I am not anti-government; I am pro-Constitution, or pro-Liberty if you will. So were all in attendance to celebrate the saving of this private company from the clutches of power-mongering liberals, socialists, and Henny Penny whiners. We need government to protect our Liberty as is charged in our Constitution, as opposed to gradually taking it piece by piece until all that is left is a mere pittance of what our Founding Fathers bequeathed to us. What the liberals who led this rage against capitalism didn’t realize, is that we the people give government its authority.

Our Liberty comes from God directly to our people and we elect representatives to represent our interests empowered by us, not by a king or dictator. That is why the American Revolution is the greatest historic event in the history of mankind after God coming to earth in the flesh of Jesus Christ. Our Founders changed forever the relationship between government and the people.

Last night, our local dictator Theresa Isaac, LEFTington’s Would-Be Queen Theresa, and her bongo drum beating cohorts received a resounding NO to their question of whether or not LEFTingtonians believe it is right to condemn KY American Water and steal it from its owners. Last night was a victory for Liberty, specifically the constitutionally protected right of private property ownership. It is communists who don’t allow people to own property, and whose governments own all the means of production, not Americans, and communism fails every time. We have a Constitution, not a communist manifesto, or humanist manifesto as is the desire of many of these misguided leftists.

This Guerilla Reporter predicted that if the NO vote was a slam dunk, as it was (60% - 40%), one liberal dictator Theresa Isaac would lose her job and the Guerilla Reporter was right. She made history losing by almost 20,000 votes, the first time in history that an incumbent Mayor did not get reelected in LEFTington since the city county merger. Not wanting to be arrogant or boastful, I cannot resist saying, “I told you so”.

I was at a Council Meeting a few years ago speaking against the government takeover of KY American, and I had only two minutes to speak. After observing Theresa Isaac giggling with her little socialist friends in the citizen seating section while I was speaking, which I found very rude, I knew this was no lady who deserved to be our Mayor. It was like I was talking to a wall except for the other more respectful Council Members who were listening. As a warning to her, I used her own words when I told her that elections happen every so many years.

Theresa Isaac abused the power seat of our local government and crossed the line from being the people’s representative to being the people’s oppressor. This is the reason our Founders gave us a First Amendment backed up by the Second Amendment which backs up our entire Constitution as well. We must never again allow a Mayor in LEFTington to attack private property as Theresa Isaac found so easy to do. She recently misused the “threat of eminent domain” again to attack the old Lexington Mall property.

We must make sure we have laws and ordinances in place making this impossible in the future. Wouldn’t it also be nice to send a bill to Theresa Isaac and her blue blood supporters to repay the millions of dollars they basically stole from we the taxpayers to fund this arrogant misuse of power! To that I say, “Go ahead, make my day”! Watch very closely to see what happens with the questionable $750,000.00 loan taken on by the city, guaranteed by the blue bloods who led up this charge. Unfortunately, Ralph Hacker has morphed from the voice of UK Sports to the voice of government oppression. So long Ralph. From now to eternity, when I hear his voice, I will no longer hear UK Wildcats, I will hear socialism.

I have no stake in KY American Water other than being a customer. For a fleeting moment, I wondered what I was doing there in the midst of KY American employees and others celebrating the saving of their company. As we listened to some very fine men give speeches last night, Warren Rogers of No Takeover Dot Com, and Nick Rowe, President of KY American Water, it hit me that I was celebrating the salvation of a private company from the clutches of a corrupt over-reaching government, a government that had become “too big for its britches”, no reference to Theresa Isaac’s derriere meant as I don’t want to go negative and get into the gutter with the FLOW/LUV/YES crowd. It was then that I realized this is also my company.

I remembered why I entered this battle in the first place. It wasn’t, to me, about KY American Water; it was about property rights, plain and simple. It was about being an American, believing in my Constitution, and respecting that which our Founding Fathers sacrificed largely to leave us.

It was the class leadership of Rowe and Rogers that kept the NO Takeover group on the moral high ground, and this time those on the mountain won. It says a lot about the leadership of the other side that their tactics were on the low ground, some would say in the gutter. We are fortunate to have men of the caliber of Nick Rowe and Warren Rogers in LEFTington willing to put themselves out there, knowing they will become targets of the left, but standing firm to do what is right.

Since liberals want to steal our water company so they can play with its profits based on ridiculous arguments like xenophobia, local control, local ownership, and the argument that this is a utility and as a utility should be owned by the municipality, let us make them happy. Our local news rag, the Heraldo-Liberal, some would argue, provides a useful and necessary “service” to this community, is a monopoly, and is not locally owned. Let’s form an organization to seize it and allow its profits to stay in our community. But what do we call this new organization? I know; how about FLOP, For Local Ownership of Propaganda.
