Conspiracy of silence on immigration?

Why has the press not been asking the candidates about their views on our illegal immigration problem?  Americans have identified illegal immigration as being the second most important issue, after national security, and yet we are hearing very little about this issue during the political campaigns. 

We hear about sex scandals and murders, and about the personal lives of movie stars, but we hear very little about issues that really matter for our country’s future.

Where is the free press that is supposed to be asking the tough questions and holding the candidates’ feet to the fire?  Where is the free press that is supposed to be protecting the interests of average citizens?  Apparently, it is out to lunch, or napping, or maybe it is a bit too cozy with those in power.  In any case, it is not doing the job it is supposed to be doing.

Meanwhile, millions of illegal immigrants are streaming across our borders. Illegal immigrants are victimized by coyotes who charge large sums to smuggle them in.  Then they are victimized by employers.  Then they victimize us by using our emergency rooms and our classrooms without paying for them.  Will they be voting in our elections? 

Inquiring minds want to know, and we wonder why our “free press” is not getting to the bottom of these issues.
