Frivolous politics – Tomas Sowell With a war going on in Iraq and with Iran next door moving steadily toward a nuclear bomb that could change the course of world history in the hands of international terrorists, the question for this year's elections is not whether you or your candidate is a Democrat or a Republican but whether you are serious or frivolous. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/ThomasSowell/2006/10/10/frivolous_politics

Frivolous politics part II – Thomas Sowell [D]isappointed Republican voters who plan to stay home on election day to protest their elected officials' failings are seeing politics as a way to vent their personal emotions. That is a frivolous self-indulgence in a deadly serious time for this nation. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/ThomasSowell/2006/10/11/frivolous_politics_part_ii

Frivolous politics part III-  All the most powerful groups within the Democratic Party -- the teachers' unions, environmental zealots, lawyers who make big bucks off frivolous lawsuits, and the American Civil Liberties Union -- have interests diametrically opposed to the interests of blacks. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/ThomasSowell/2006/10/12/frivolous_politics_part_iii

Frivolous politics part IV – Thomas Sowell If you think political spin and political gamesmanship are the answers to this country's problems, then vote for the Democrats….There was a time when we all understood that, whatever we might think of a President, we still had only one President at a time and that wholesale obstruction and undermining of him was obstruction and undermining of the United States in the face of its enemies. Shrill obstructionist House minority leader Nancy Pelosi obviously does not share that view -- and if Congressional Democrats win this election, she will become Speaker of the House. If Democrats win the Senate as well, then they will have the power to not only impeach the President and Vice President, but also the power to remove them from office. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would then become President Nancy Pelosi. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/ThomasSowell/2006/10/13/frivolous_politics_part_iv

The religion of global warming - Note that Schwarzenegger gets into global-warming heaven just for believing, despite his four Hummers and use of a private jet. … "Consensus" is another word for clique science. The good people are true believers, the bad people exhibit a "will to disbelieve." Editors used to salute healthy skepticism. Now some are global-warming Torquemadas.  http://www.townhall.com/columnists/DebraJSaunders/2006/10/15/inhofe,_the_apostate

Some Choice: Socialist Democrats or Fascist Republicans
As things stand now, we do not need to fear al Qaeda, Iran, or North Korea near as much as we need to fear the abuse of power from within our own government. There is no question in my mind that we have the military power and strength to fight off any foreign enemy. The bigger question is, Do we have the moral power and strength to fight off those within our own country who would strip us of our freedoms? How we answer that question will determine our ultimate destiny.....

The road from North Korea leads to Tehran Letting North Korea get away with its “brazen act” (as the Chinese put it), might put another nail into the coffin of the UN’s contemptible record of dealing with rogue regimes. http://gcc.savvior.com/Road_from_North_Korea.php

The Politics of Disaster
Hurricane Katrina was a natural disaster; the subsequent man made mess was an even bigger disaster.  It becomes clear from Marvin Olasky's account in The Politics of Disaster that most of the mess was not the fault of the hurricane but that of government officials at all levels.  The dependency mentality that expects government to take care of all of our problems paralyzed many of the hurricane victims themselves as well as local politicians such as New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.....

Bill Clinton’s new glow job Clinton promptly signed the deal, so he could forget about North Korea and get back to cheating on Hillary. Mission accomplished.  Under the terms of the "agreed framework," we gave North Korea all sorts of bribes -- more than $5 billion worth of oil, two nuclear reactors and lots of high technology. In return, they took the bribes and kept building nukes. This wasn't difficult, inasmuch as the 1994 deal permitted the North Koreans to evade weapons inspectors for the next five years. http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=17502
