“[State controlled] education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” – Joseph Stalin

"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever.  But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with."

--Ronald Reagan

“Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924)

“There are now eight studies from some of the places where [school] choice has been tried. All show that when parents are given choices, kids' performance improves. But those studies didn't make the front page of The Times." ---John Stossel

Are Public Schools Or Private Schools More Accountable?         By Theresa Fritz Camoriano

One argument against education vouchers is that they would involve sending tax money to private schools, which are unaccountable, as opposed to public schools, which are accountable.  When I see and hear that argument, I have to laugh.         (click to read more)

Shun KDE’s close-mindedness; make the ACT count         By Jim Waters

(Bowling Green, Kentucky) – Legislators and education leaders nationwide hailed passage of Senate Bill 130 (SB 130) during the 2006 Kentucky General Assembly. But will they still be applauding after the Kentucky Board of Education (KBE) decides how the new law will be implemented this week?          (click to read more)

Middle East      (from a reader – source unknown)

Someone needs to spell out this lesson to the public.  Since we don't allow school bullies anymore, and fighting back is more offensive than the attack, I hope we catch on before it is too late.  Wars are not won by cease fires and negotiations.  WW II was won by unconditional surrender and from that point a peace plan can progress.  The United Nations will never produce more than a Chamberlain  promise of "Peace in our time", if that.   When all of the terrorists are removed from Lebanon, then let the world help to rebuild what used to be a peaceful and beautiful Lebanon, and give the country back to the moderate multicultural population.         (click to read more)

Rights, Power, and Foreign Policy        By Gordon Francis Corbett

Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence, "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed...."  He did not say what makes make given powers just.  I think that I know, and that Jefferson would agree.  That element is the individual citizen's individual rights.         (click to read more)

The ISM of all ISMs           By Jeff “Mario” Smith, Guerilla Reporter

August 5, in the year of our Lord 2006

As I digest Ann Coulter’s latest truth teller about what Dr. Michael Savage calls “the mental disorder of liberalism”, I am reminded, as Ann so aptly points out, that liberalism is indeed a religion. In Godless, the Church of Liberalism”, Coulter proves that this godless moronic disorder we have been trained to call liberalism indeed possesses all the attributes that make up a religion.          (click to read more)

Iraq Minus Ten Years         By Don Heavrin

Lewis ‘Scooter’ Libby, special counsel to the White House, was indicted for perjury, false statements and obstruction of justice relating to the CIA leak of Valerie Plame’s status as an agent. For years, Scooter has been a neo-conservative authoritarian, who wielded enormous power, but was virtually anonymous. He worked in the Reagan administration, for Bush I, and for Bush II. Ten years before the 9/ll terror attack, he drafted a guideline paper calling for the United States to engage in a peremptory war and an invasion of Iraq. What stopped this event from occurring ten years ago is someone leaked it to the newspapers, and Bush abandoned the policy because of the protest from the American public.         (click to read more)

Opportunities for inventors and entrepreneurs in Louisville area

The Vogt Invention and Innovation Award program is expanding to develop a new monthly award that will dramatically expand the fund’s impact on Louisville’s entrepreneurial vitality.  The Louisville-based endowment currently awards up to $250,000 annually to inventors and entrepreneurs.         (click to read more)

Under the guise of not favoring religion, liberals favor one cosmology over another and demand total indoctrination into theirs. The state religion of liberalism demands obeisance (to the National Organization for Women), tithing (to teachers’ unions), reverence (for abortion), and formulaic imprecations (“Bush lied, kids died!” “Keep your laws off my body!” “Arms for hostages!”). Everyone is taxed to support indoctrination into the state religion through the public schools, where innocent children are taught a specific belief system, rather than, say, math. – Ann Coulter

"The government solution to a problem is usually as bad as the problem." ---Milton Friedman

Free State Project

"Let the pulpit resound with the doctrine and sentiments of religious liberty. Let us hear of the dignity of man's nature, and the noble rank he holds among the works of God... Let it be known that British liberties are not the grants of princes and parliaments."-- John Adams

"Nations crumble from within when the citizenry asks of government those things which the citizenry might better provide for itself... [I] hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There's a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts." ---Ronald Reagan

It's getting harder and harder to support the government in the style to which it has become accustomed. Phillips' Treasury of Humorous Quotations
