Terry’s Tidbits

Dumb and Dumber

-Mother Earth News is protesting a National Uniformity for Food Act.  This is the same publication that heavily promotes globalization.  Do they think they’ll be able to protest a Global Uniformity for Food Act?  I say it all the time, be careful what you wish for.

-Loud music in cars makes me crazy.  As a nation, with Big Healthcare and nannies at the helm, we are very health conscious.  Given this, how long before we regulate loud music in cars when kids are present?  It pretty much seems a given to me though I see it as big brother.  I don’t like big brother.

-Breaking News is not what it used to be.  WAVE seems to think that breaking news is flashing a “breaking news” alert to tell me that breaking news is forthcoming – “as soon as it happens”, as they did in the Andrea Yates verdict.  Breaking news is not flashing the same story over and over without providing more details, as they did with the Indiana sniper.  Maybe they should go with a perpetual “breaking news” logo on the screen.  WLKY thinks breaking news is telling me that the Tour de France winner has tested for high testosterone.  Maybe his tires were over-inflated too.

-In a gas war in New Mexico, where gas was selling for 49.9, traffic got so bad that law enforcement forced station owners to raise their prices.  And I thought cops were our friends.

-I laugh every time I see a meth lab bust.  All these cops wearing space suits bust down doors and remove children who are not wearing any protection.  Many of these kids have been living in this environment for long periods of time.  Why are they still alive?  Cops in space suits are dramatic for the cameras, making a strong social engineering statement. God forbid that a cop has a stopped-up toilet that requires Liquid Fire.

-Breaking News:  Israel and Lebanon are fighting.  More on this story in 2040.

-Dirty Purses rule.  Our local media, on their crusade to keep us in perpetual fear, are now talking about our purses being soiled when we set them down.  As soon as I heard about this, I quit carrying my purse.  Let’s legislate a Purse Protection Act that requires businesses to comply with a clean surfaces standard so that I can once again carry my purse.  In fact, this legislation could carry over to protect our shoes, briefcases, and any other personal item that touches a public floor.  This is a great motivator for the development of levitation devices so that none of us ever have to touch a floor surface again.  “I’m walking on sunshine…”  Maybe they can get the meth Gestapo to come in once or twice a day in full gear to tidy up our public floors.

A Letter to WAVE 3

This letter is in response to Wave’s story as reported (twice) by Frances Kuo about “gun violence”.  It centered on Louisville’s West end.  The story is garbage and intended to insert a disarm agenda in the news.

Do you know what some of the “less free” governments of the world have done to their disarmed citizens?  In the 20th century there were approximately 145 million people murdered by governments that had disarmed their citizens.  Did you know that one of the reasons for our 2nd amendment right to bear arms is for our protection against a government that has turned oppressive?  Our founders recognized that governments become corrupted by power and ultimately their corruption will turn to murdering their own citizens.  Our founders also recognized the God-given right to self-protection.  Law abiding citizens need the ability to protect themselves against criminals armed with guns.

The answer is not disarming our society.  This measure would ensure that only criminals would have guns.  The answer is in gun ownership and knowledge of guns and how to use them.  Our kids have no idea how to handle guns unless parents teach them.  Learning about guns should be mandatory and every kid should know how to handle them.  This would prevent many accidental deaths and thwart many murders.

Tell me how many victims were shot by law abiding gun owners in Louisville’s West end or anywhere else in America.  Law abiding gun owners shoot people in self-defense.  Maybe you should promote gun ownership – a proven deterrent to gun violence.  How many West End criminals would run around shooting innocent people if they thought those innocent people might shoot back?  Criminals love victims.  How many stories do you hear about people legally carrying and using guns in criminal acts?  I can’t recall any.

In 1997, South Africa, one of the countries that has disarmed its citizens, had a murder rate of 75 per 100,000.  In the U.S. the murder rate for the same year was 5.7 per 100,000.  In Norway, where gun ownership is almost as prevalent as in the United States, the murder rate was .97 per 100,000.  Americans use guns to defend themselves 764,000 times a year.

Don’t you find it odd that cops have guns?  Why do cops have guns?  It is because criminals have guns.  With that in mind, shouldn’t citizens have guns too?  Criminals will always have guns, and the only protection that law abiding citizens have against armed thugs is gun ownership.   Law enforcement can’t baby sit us.  They are seldom there to thwart crime before it happens; they tend to be investigative instead.  This is fine for finding and punishing a criminal, but it sucks when it comes to saving a life.  I have no stats to back up this next statement but consider it anyway.  I will bet that more than half of those shot by criminals would not have been shot if they had been armed.

The story that you ran tonight was totally and completely aimed at gun regulation – social engineering at its lowest.  When Dr. Bill Snopes, the University of Louisville medical spokesman in your story placed gun violence in the realm of healthcare, he effectively placed it in an area that the media and the government are nurturing expertly – the taxpayers’ burden for healthcare.  You don’t seem to mind paying for unmarried teens popping out kids left and right but find it worth reporting when “gun violence” costs taxpayers.  What a wonderful display of priorities.

Remember, if the government can regulate or eliminate the second amendment, they can sure as hell remove the first amendment protection of the press.

I heard back from Steve Langford, the station manager, but not from Frances Kuo.  Mr. Langford said, “You really should give me a call as you might be shocked at many of my views. Call me. Steve”   My question is this:  If his views would shock me, they obviously are in opposition to the gist of the story.  If they are in opposition to the gist of the story and he his the station manager, why did this story run in the form that it did?
