Senate Bill Larded Up with Pork On Thurday, Senator
Tom Coburn dropped a fiscal bomb on an unsuspecting Senate.
Using a rare procedural device, Coburn offered a "clay pigeon"
amendment to the war supplemental bill that the upper chamber is
currently debating. In short, he tosses up this one amendment
like a "clay pigeon" and it gets broken up into several
amendments. In other words, Coburn stealthly offered 19
amendments that all attacked wasteful pork projects within the
bill. Check out the
Club's
blog for continuous coverage.
Ahead of the debate, Club for Growth Executive Director David
Keating joined with other prominent leaders in the conservative
movement at a press conference to urge the Senate to hold the
line on spending in the supplemental spending bill. To read a
good roundup of how the press conference went, click

Club members donated over $1 million to Coburn's campaign in
2004. We think that was a great investment.
