UK, Joseph Beth, the Heraldo-Liberal, and Nancy Barron Welcome a Traitor; Major Mark A. Smith, ex-POW, Vietnam, Responds By Jeff “Mario” Smith, Guerilla Reporter March 31, 2006
The Bluegrass Festival of Books on April 29, 2006, from 9 – 5, in Lexington, KY is touted as a time to meet “your favorite authors”. I did not see any of my favorite authors listed, and was immediately struck in awe at the name of one particular “author”. She is referred to in the literature as one jane fonda. Patriotic Americans know her as ”hanoi jane” and don’t consider her an author, but rather a traitor.
The treason of hanoi jane is infamous, at least among historians, Veterans, and Patriots who place God and country before themselves. Meeting with the enemy in order to plot strategy to overthrow the US war effort in Vietnam while our men were dying on the battlefield and being tortured mercilessly in primitive POW camps is surely treason, no doubt about it.
Similarly, john “ho chi” kerry met with the enemy in Paris, and his perjured testimony to the Senate about alleged, but not proven, war crimes is likewise infamous. The urban legends created by hanoi jane and ho chi kerry live on today thanks to skewed history books, leftist professors and teachers, and the good old liars and deceivers of the mainstream media. Remember them, these are the people who brought us the lie of “McCarthyism” and ”Rathergate” to name but two?
Article III, Section 3 of our US Constitution says this about treason: Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court. The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted. Our subverted government refuses to prosecute treason ignoring the wishes of a majority of Americans as well as our Constitution. This is arguably another form of treason, within our own halls of power. The pain this causes so many Veterans is a slap in the face of these Veterans by the very government that is supposed to treat Veterans with pride and care.
While Veterans and Patriots will give no quarter to hanoi jane, nor will we let her rest. The University of Kentucky, Joseph Beth Booksellers, the Heraldo-Liberal newspaper, and Nancy Barron & Associates are welcoming the infamous traitor to town as one of fifty alleged “authors” to be celebrated. It is an all day event with breakfasts, luncheons, and the works. Word has it that hanoi jane speaks somewhere between 1200 and 1400 hours. Guess who just got added to the list of businesses Veterans and Patriots can no longer support.
This guerilla reporter contacted the sponsors. The only response was from Nancy Barron of Nancy Barron & Associates. While the Heraldo-Liberal responded with a mere “thank you”, Joseph Beth did not respond at all. I have yet to contact the University of Kentucky. Nancy Barron informed me that her father is a Veteran and never uttered hanoi jane’s name without also uttering the word “traitor”. While I thanked her father for his service as well as his attitude towards the traitor, I also let Nancy Barron know that hiding behind “business” that acts to legitimize a traitor is not acceptable.
The blood of hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese, over 58,000 Americans, many others of our allies, those of our POWs abandoned, and over 2000 MIAs is clearly on the hands of hanoi jane, ho chi kerry, tom hayden, ramsey clark, and so many others, who in the sixties and seventies, chose to become traitors to their country in a time of war. How can I say this?
It was largely the efforts of the anti-war crowd that won the Vietnam War for the North Vietnamese and the Russians. We had them soundly defeated on the ground. Through leftist propaganda in the mainstream media, these traitors were elevated to the status of world diplomats. NVA leader General Giap admitted they were defeated until the anti-war movement in the United States weakened the knees of the American people. They just waited for the Americans to lose their will. We are witnessing the same strategy play out in the Iraq War right now by present day leftist hippie wannabes as well as the worn out sixties peace hippies who have been repackaged by their allies in the MSM for today’s treason. Remember hanoi jane’s failed vegetable oil bus tour?
It is despicable what these people did and do, and to think that hanoi jane is being treated as a valid American at this book celebration, and ho chi kerry received around 50,000,000 votes in the election of 2004, is sickening indeed. I should have titled this article, “As The Stomach Turns”. We are surely a nation in trouble when we treat treason as less offensive than a speeding ticket.
Regardless of one’s feelings about a war, that is not the time to aid and abet our enemies by speaking out against our nation, its leaders, and her military. Win the war, and then discuss it. Go to Congress and make changes if you wish, but don’t attack the mission of our troops while they are in harm’s way thus aiding and abetting our enemies. There is nothing to be gained in weakness or in going to war only to give in and retreat. This will only bring more attacks by our enemies.
Here is hanoi jane’s attitude towards communism: "I would think that if you understood what communism was you would hope, you would pray on your knees, that we would someday become communists." - Jane Fonda, at Michigan State University, quoted in Detroit Free Press of November 22, 1970. She is so naïve, that she believes prayer can be a part of communism, AKA atheism. Many people think communism is anti-capitalism. Wrong! Communism is anti-God.
Here is just one example of hanoi jane’s communist vietnam. There is so much the media ignores about the hell that is living in communist vietnam, so much that could be told!
Responding to my email about these entities allowing hanoi jane to participate in the book celebration, Decorated Veteran Major Mark A. Smith, ex-POW currently living in Bangkok, Thailand, had the following to say. The words from a man who suffered torture at the hands of a godless atheist enemy, and who was captured with 38 holes in his body, should be read by all and treated with reverence. These are the words of a man who knows, a man who met hanoi jane in the battle for America, and who publicly defeated the naïve traitor in a debate.
Dear Sir,
I was forwarded a copy of the response sent to one of your readers concerning ms jane fonda being invited to Lexington. I know she appears to be a rather benign matron, but, there are some wounds time and even a change of heart by the perpetrator will not heal. I have met ms fonda personally at the Hollywood Press Club in 1973. Fellow POWS and myself went there to challenge her and tom hayden over their assertions we were lying about the torture and deprivation of our captivity. I was chosen to rise and speak to our feelings about her actions in North Vietnam. She, by all accounts, did not do well in defending what I called then and call now simply, TREASON.
In our youth we do many things we are not proud of as adults. Later we may even laugh about them as childish indiscretions. But, murder, rape and certainly treason are not among those things later ignored or excused. To assist in rehabilitating ms fonda for a new generation of Americans hardly falls under the label of being fair and honorable. To hold her up as some type of an icon of American womanhood is a direct slap at not only Vietnam Veterans, but, our sons and daughters now on the field of battle.
There is one similarity between Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan. Our attempt to overcome our enemies and win, faces far more obstacles at home than on the battlefield. The matronly lady welcomed by you to your town did not merely march and disagree with her government. She went to the camp of the enemy and supported him, while he brutalized me and other POWS. Your reasoning may sound fine to some in Lexington, but, will never sound alright to this man who attended high school just down the road in tiny Lawson Kentucky.
Of course, that was back in a time when treason was not acceptable in the State of Kentucky.
Major Mark A. Smith US Army, Retired Bangkok Thailand
To the University of Kentucky, the Heraldo-Liberal, Joseph Beth Booksellers, and Nancy Barron & Associates, I will just let this one sentence by Major Mark A. Smith, ex-POW, be the last words for this article.
“To assist in rehabilitating ms fonda for a new generation of Americans hardly falls under the label of being fair and honorable.”
