Imposing Immorality In Boyd County Kentucky

"These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."  -- Deuteronomy 6:6-7

God handed down the moral and civil laws to the Israelites through His servant Moses. Moses, in turn, told parents to teach these laws to their children. This was not an option, but an obligation—one in which Christians ought to take seriously today. But for a Christian parent with children in the Boyd County Public Schools, the task was made more difficult recently by a court ruling which mandated that parents do not have the right to opt their children out of controversial gay sensitivity training.

The training was instituted four years ago after the ACLU sued the school for not recognizing a gay student club. As part of an out-of-court settlement, the school agreed to annual, mandated gay sensitivity training for middle and high school students, a full day of gay rights in-service training for staff and teachers, and watchdogs called "compliance coordinators."

Parents have always maintained the right to pull their kids out of objectionable classes, but not anymore according to U.S. District Judge David Bunning who wrote the opinion. The ruling has serious implications for parents and schools across the Commonwealth.

LET US PRAY that this ruling will not be the final word on parental rights in Kentucky schools and for the parents in Boyd County as they will be forced to make a difficult decision in the coming months.  May we also lift up the spiritual protection of the children who will be forced to endure another year of propaganda training which promotes immorality.

Editor’s note:  Where is the so-called “separation of church and state” when you really need it?  Parents should not be forced to have their children indoctrinated into a religious view with which they disagree.
