Terry’s Tidbits

At some point in freedom it will become necessary to become treasonous to government in order to be faithful to country.

Sticking it to Sam

To the outside observer most of the smoking ban hoopla is gone.  To those still fighting this Nazi legislation and mentality. the fight continues.  I have conceded the outward fight and moved on to other things that I find more important.  However, the things that I find more important are the principles underlying the mentality that thinks in terms of bans.

As many of you know. the state of Kentucky raised the tax on cigarettes last year to $3.00 a carton.  The average price of a carton of premium cigarettes in Kentucky after the tax increase is $25.00.  Many smokers who enjoy their tobacco cannot force themselves to smoke the cheaper brands.  It’s much like a Samuel Adams beer drinker switching to Old Milwaukee or switching from ground chuck to hamburger.  It doesn’t fly with those of us who truly enjoy a good smoke.

I recently came upon a website that offered premium bulk tobacco.  A pound costs $14.99.  In order to use this tobacco, a smoker also has to have the rolling tubes and a rolling machine.  I thought I’d give it a try, so I ordered a kit which contained one pound of premium tobacco, a rolling machine and 400 filtered tubes.  Including postage I paid $66.94.  That’s pretty pricy for 2 cartons of cigarettes, but $42 of this was for the rolling machine.  I had my doubts as I waited for the shipment to come.

Four days went by and the United States Postal Service delivered my package.  I opened it up and did something uncharacteristic of me; I read the rolling machine directions.  They were pretty straight forward and calling the machine a “rolling” machine is wrong.  It is more of an injection machine.

The bag of bulk tobacco was essentially a freezer bag loaded with one pound of nice looking burley.  I opened it and about fell out of my chair.  Coffee lovers know the delight of opening a new can of ground roast and catching a whiff of the fine aroma.  This was better than that.  It was more like grinding your own coffee beans.  It was the richest, most incredible nose bouquet that I’d encountered in a long time.  My anticipation was growing.

The filtered tubes came in boxes of 200 that resembled cigarette cartons.  I set up the machine, placed one of the tubes on the tube holder, and pushed some tobacco in the slot on the machine.  One quarter of a turn on the handle and the injector filled the cigarette tube with tobacco.  I tamped it down by thumping the filter end on the table and felt the tube.  It was firm and filled.

The moment of truth was at hand as I grabbed my lighter and lit up.  The taste was smooth and the cigarette didn’t burn hot or go out.  I sat and smoked it, fully enjoying the satisfaction that I was getting from “rolling” my own premium cigarette and burning the feds and the state at the same time.

Federal tax on each pack of cigarettes is $0.39 and state excise tax is $0.30 and it doesn’t matter whether the cigarettes are those burning hell sticks that “only” cost $16.00 a carton or they are the premium ones - federal and state excise taxes on cigarettes equal $6.90 a carton.

I just ordered a refill kit for my “rolling” machine.  I got three pounds of premium tobacco and 1200 filtered tubes with shipping for $61.94.  That is six cartons, which works out to $10.32 a carton.  You can’t even get the cheapies for that price.

I did question whether or not I would get tired of rolling cigarettes.  I don’t.  In fact I giggle every time one of those nicely rolled babies pops out of the machine.  I just screwed the government out of three and a half cents.  I turn on the television, keep the remote handy, and roll away.  I found that during the Olympics even the male figure skaters were tolerable.  I could listen to the harmless music and make cigarettes while waiting to see one of these men in tights fall down.  I turn out a pack of smokes in 10 minutes.  It’s fun for the whole family too.  You can entertain your kids by telling them stories about how the government likes to steal money from its citizens and take their rights just because they can.  You can tell them how the nannies are going to ruin life in our country as we know it.  Shoot, you can even tell your kids about the dangers of tobacco and use the age-old parental adage:  “Do as I say, not as I do.”  Something most nannies wouldn’t understand.

Feel free to email me for information about how to get your own tobacco kit and screw your government today.  After all, turn about is fair play.

Arab Ports

Okay, without a doubt in my mind I can say this - our president has completely lost his mind.  All the times before that I’ve expressed concern at his sanity there was still a shadow of doubt that he was truly certifiably nuts.  This time I am more than convinced.

Letting the Arabs control our ports is like letting Charlie Manson run a psycho ward for movie stars.  In his defense Bush said, “It would send a terrible message to the world if we didn’t let this deal go through.”  Then send a terrible message to the world.  But I ask how terrible is the message to the world by allowing this deal?  Some of your people attack our country and hey, let’s let bygones be bygones huh?  Come on over and assume responsibility for our shores where the potential for danger to our citizens is a grave concern.  The Arab world in general is not all that friendly with the U.S.

Impeach Bush?  Hell yes.  I have been in agreement with that notion for a long time.  The man tells us that we citizens are a danger to national security so he must spy on us and then he turns around and lets the Arabs run our ports?  Who in his right mind would accept this?

There was a recent story in the news about three Arabs living in this country who maintained normal jobs and normal lives while conspiring to kill Americans including the president.  Could an Arab run American port appear normal in its daily operation while conspiring to damage our country?  You bet, and we’d likely not know that things were amiss until it was too late.

My God, how did we elect and reelect a nut job dictator?  Get that dude out of office while we still have some semblance of a free country.  We can no longer afford this man.  The cost to freedom is more than we can bear.

Seat Belts and Guns

In the Kentucky legislative session now in progress, there are hundreds of bills under consideration.  Many of these proposed bills have no place in government consideration.  They are more pertinent to the decisions of families and individuals.  Yet the state, in its rabid attacks on our freedoms, assumes the right to dictate to us many of the things that common sense and free enterprise could handle just fine without laws.

For instance, Representative Mary Lou Marzian has sponsored a resolution (HCR 189) that will make October the “Antibiotic Resistance Awareness Month”.  Will the state issue t-shirts proclaiming, ANTIBIOTICS:  WE ARE AWARE AND RESISTANCE IS FUTILE?

There is also a resolution (HCR 207) that wants to study how teachers use their time.  One part of the resolution wants teachers accountable for their time outside of the classroom.  Another part wants to provide supervision of students outside of the classroom.

The title of this piece brings up a real dilemma in how our government treats freedom and independence.  A bill has been proposed that will make seat belt use mandatory and designate it as a primary traffic offense.  The official reason for this bill is that it will save lives.  Essentially, the state will require that we wear our seatbelts to protect us individually.  At the same time, there is a proposed bill that removes “duty to retreat”.

“Duty to retreat” essentially requires a citizen to refrain from defending himself while he is being attacked.  He has a duty as it now stands to run, hide, beg, and whatever else it takes to make his attacker go away, short of shooting the bastard.  It denies us our right to self defense.

Now comes a good bill, HB 236.  It allows citizens of this state to use deadly force when someone unlawfully and forcibly enters his home or car and the owner feels his life is imminently threatened.  Deadly force may also be used by a citizen to protect the life of another citizen.  It also immunizes from prosecution and civil suits one who uses deadly force against an attacker.  Under this law, we will no longer have to run and hide like sissies while waiting to be killed.

Is there anything wrong with this bill?  Whether or not the bill is passed, I and many others will continue to defend ourselves by whatever means available.  I’d rather take my chances in court than die at the hands of a criminal.

Representative Kathy Stine and her cohort in Oppression, Representative Mary Lou Marzian have proposed an amendment to the bill.  They want to issue concealed carry permits to every citizen in the state and issue them weapons.  I think that is a great idea.  An armed society is a safe society.  However, their amendment is designed to kill the bill.  They think no legislator in his right mind would pass the bill with the amendment.  I think the bill should be passed with the amendment and I’ve expressed this to my representative and senator.

So the bottom line is that the state will require us to wear seatbelts for self-protection but still deny us the right to protect ourselves from attackers.

Seattle Freedom

A school principle in Seattle has outlawed tag on the playground.  She says it encourages bullying and hurts the feelings of those who don’t want to play.  The same school allows footballs on the playground but no running with the footballs.  The same school plays dodge ball with Nerf balls in P.E.

In New Jersey, a school doesn’t allow tug of war.  They instead play tug of peace.

No wonder our kids grow up to commit mass murder.

Associations

Smokers have a higher risk for the need for root canals, according to research that no doubt receives lots of tobacco money to fund their research.  This is garbage.

Researchers, adamantly searching for anything negative about smoking, took a bunch of dental records and searched for smokers.  Then they grabbed any negative association that popped up and used it.  That is worth a cool million to them.

Would we have heard if they had found that smokers had stronger enamel on their teeth than non smokers?  How about them telling us that people who don’t brush their teeth save money on tooth paste and tooth brushes?

          Nary a peep.

Recommended Reading

I’m almost done with Constitutional Chaos by Judge Andrew Napolitano.  It is a great read.  If you think you are free in America it is a must read.  The things that have been done and are being done to us by our government rank right up there with some of actions of the most loathsome regimes in history.  It will never happen in America huh?  It has, is, and will happen in America.

“It should be against the law to break the law.”  Judge Napolitano.
