Anti-American “Americans” Are Really Getting On My Nerves

By Michael A. Minton

First it was the nut Cindy Sheehan who started me on this roll of near-rage over fanatical so-called Americans who have recently done their very best to make the United States of America look like the bad guys on the world stage. Actually, it started with the Dixie Chicks a couple of years ago, but I am speaking of more recent history.

I really do sympathize with Ms. Sheehan over the loss of her son. He died a hero’s death when he died in Iraq, in a war I feel is just and necessary in our War on Terror, and on those who would do us grave harm. There is no doubt in my mind that Saddam was indeed involved with al-Quaeda, as it has been documented that a higher up in that nuts-only-need-apply organization received medical treatment in Iraq. You don’t just allow medical treatment for a known terrorist without providing aid and comfort.

I sympathize, but when Ms. Sheehan appeared in Venezuela with dictator Hugo Chavez, and expressed her disdain for America, and her love for the dictator, it was over the top…and it sent me over the edge.

Of course, I will not soon forget that great American, Harry Bellefonte, who also went to Venezuela. While standing with his arm around dictator Chavez, Bellefonte also proclaimed his love for the renegade dictator while referring to President Bush as the “world’s greatest terrorist.” Here is another fine American who really is wasting the oxygen that somebody more worthy of it could use.

Now, over the past weekend, we have a FORMER VICE PRESIDENT who goes overseas and bad-mouths the president of the United States. Yes, Al “Sour Grapes of Wrath” Gore was in Saudi Arabia speaking at the Jiddah Economic Forum. This is despicable, although nothing new for a Democrat party which has come totally unhinged since President Bush “stole” the election six years ago. (Come on, there have been six years and an unquestionable election since then…get over it!).

While speaking at the forum, in one of the most repressive countries in the world, the former vice president, and current nut-in-chief, accused the U.S. government of “terrible abuses” against Arabs in America after the 9/11/2001 attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This is the first I have really heard about this. In reality, the president immediately called on Americans to show tolerance toward Muslims in our homeland--and the vast majority did.

In fact, the jealous, bitter, defeated Gore is referenced in an AP story, which says, “Gore said Arabs had been ‘indiscriminately rounded up’ and held in ‘unforgivable’ conditions.”

I would like to know which Cabinet the president appointed Gore to which would let him know the specificities of those who were “rounded up” in the U.S. after 9/11. This is just a ludicrous statement made by Gore. It is reckless and irresponsible.

Yes, all three of the nut jobs I have referenced have every right to say what they want to about the country which gives them the right to criticize it. However, just like the situation with the Dixie Chicks, it is a treasonous act to go to a foreign country and bad-mouth the president. At the very best, it is dishonorable.

Of course, since they absolutely love anything that makes America look bad, liberals will not speak badly of Americans who go to some of the worst dictatorships in the world to knock our great nation. Absolute total hypocrisy pervades the Democrat party, who continually refuse to disassociate themselves from radicals on the left who are only too happy to see the country (in their view) stumble.

Naturally, the front page of my local liberal rag, The Courier-Journal, a Gannett publication, has a headline about the V.P.’s accidental shooting of an errant hunter (who is just fine, thank you very much), but it doesn’t contain a word about Gore traveling to a foreign land to bad-mouth the President of the United States. NOWHERE in the whole stinking paper is it mentioned. It really is sad.

Yes, I am now enraged. When I started this article I was only near rage…now I am there.

I also spent a little time visiting both liberal and conservative blogs this morning. Most of the liberal blogs I read referred to the president as stupid, and conservatives as lynching rednecks. Most of the conservative blogs I saw, including my own, had no personal attacks, and actually dealt with issues of the day. The difference is easy to see. I/E (Intellect over emotion) versus E/I (emotion over intellect). I leave it to you to figure out whom I think is which.
