This Is Low..Even For Liberals By Michael A. Minton

Let me begin by saying that I am sorry to have been away for so long. I have missed the chance to release my frustration over the loony left, and to educate as many as possible in the school of “Right Opinion.” It is good to be back!

Yesterday was not a day to be proud of being a liberal. The events at the funeral for Coretta Scott King showed, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that the lunatic left has totally lost touch with reality. Anyone who would use the occasion of a funeral to try and score political points against a sitting president--and I do mean sitting, as in right behind them--is nothing short of a disrespectful piece of trash in my book.

I just sat in total amazement and disbelief as the Right-Reverend Joseph Lowery, of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, said the following: “We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction over there. But Coretta knew and we knew that there are weapons of misdirection right down here. Millions without health insurance, poverty abounds, for war, billions more, but no more for the poor.”

Wow! I could not fathom what level of disrespect and uncouth it would require to make such a statement about the president, with him SITTING RIGHT THERE! And AT A FUNERAL no less! Even for liberals, this is an all-time low. Naturally, being an almost totally black audience, which means a mostly Bush-hating audience, his remarks were met with thunderous applause. (That is not a racist statement, it is just a fact that the majority of blacks in this country vote for liberal Democrats, and are not fond of ANY Republican president; especially this one.)

And, by the way, here’s an idea for those who are poor simply because they refuse to work, and still want to complain about “no more for the poor”---GET A JOB!!! I know there are those who cannot work because of disabilities, I am one. But for those who can and just won’t, I feel they should either get a job or starve in silence.

These remarks were followed by the musings of former Democrat President (choke) Jimmy Carter, who referenced the current controversy over the NSA program of spying on terrorists by bringing up the wiretapping of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (wasn’t there a Democrat president during that era?). He then basically accused the current administration of racism in the way the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina was handled. Of course, this is nothing new from the former peanut farmer, who has consistently broken from the unspoken rule that former presidents do not criticize sitting presidents, so his statements came as no surprise to most people. What’s next, Mr. Carter? Are you going to meet Cindy and Harry in Venezuela to honor the wonderful dictator there?

Also abusing the honor of speaking at this great lady’s funeral was “America’s first black president,” Bill Clinton. While he did at least show respect for Mrs. King by reminding us all that “there’s a woman lying in there (the casket),” he also used his role in the funeral as a campaign stump for his wife’s impending presidential bid (choke again!).

Yes, it was a day of new levels of despair and shame for liberals. This was a funeral, a time to honor and celebrate the life of a very courageous and influential woman. It would have been fine to mention her work in the area of civil rights. As a matter of fact, it would be wrong not to. However, to use it as the catalyst for attacks on the current president and his policies is just wrong.

As a conservative political junkie, I am always happy when liberals open their mouths--they always seem to insert both feet. However, as a human being, I was deeply disturbed to see folks abuse the opportunity to honor the “first lady of civil rights” in such a way. I would not be proud of the label liberal at this point in American history.
