Top
10 RINOs (Republicans in Name Only)
Ranked by the editors of Human Events.
1. Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R.I.)
Once approached by Democratic Leader Harry
Reid to switch parties, Chafee has long
supported liberal policies. He backs legal
abortion, gay rights, federal-funded health
care, strict environmental protections and a
higher minimum wage. Opposes ANWR drilling.
Also was the only Republican in Congress not
to endorse the President’s reelection and
one of three who tried to gut Bush’s tax
cuts.

Teachers'
Pets
The NEA gave $65 million in its members'
dues to left-liberal groups last year.
If we told you that an organization gave
away more than $65 million last year to
Jesse Jackson's Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the
Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation,
Amnesty International, AIDS Walk Washington
and dozens of other such advocacy groups,
you'd probably assume we were describing a
liberal philanthropy. In fact, those
expenditures have all turned up on the
financial disclosure report of the National
Education Association, the country's largest
teachers union.

Jack
Brunner – Republican Assembly Pioneer/Hero
About five years ago, I had a professional
assignment for Jack Brunner.
I 've know Jack for maybe 16 years or so and
, of course , met him when he was well into
his 70's and was pretty comfortably in his
reserved, "I'm a retIred businessman and
movin' kind of slow" public persona.

Beware
the Non-Partisan
In Texas, the Republican Comptroller, Carole
Strayhorn, has decided to run for Governor
as an Independent. She is a liberal
Republican or a moderate Democrat, but she
has decided, though a GOP'er, to run away
from her Party. Indeed, Mrs. Strayhorn been
a Democrat until 1985, when the Republican
Revolution hit Texas and she joined the
crowd. To make it more interesting, her son
is Scott McClellan, the Press Secretary for
President Bush. In her comments about being
Governor, she says "I am a Republican. But
I know we must set partisan politics aside
and do what's right for Texas." Strayhorn
wants to be a non partisan Governor.

Virginia
denies benefits to illegals
By Dionne Walker
RICHMOND -- A new Virginia law that bars
illegal aliens from receiving state-funded
benefits goes into effect tomorrow.
The law restricts anybody without a
Social Security number from receiving
Medicaid, temporary assistance for needy
families, and help from several other state
and local programs.
Supporters say the measure could save
the state millions.
"A lot of us were saying, instead of
raising taxes, why don't we start
prioritizing where we're spending our
existing money," said Delegate David B.
Albo, Fairfax Republican, who sponsored the
bill. "One of the things we found was the
state was not checking for legal presence
for Medicaid."

MINIMUM
WAGE IS MAXIMUM HARM TO THE POOR
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, in his
version of a compromise, will propose the
increase of the California minimum wage from
$6.75 to $7.75, in two increments, for a
total of $1.00. At the same time he
proclaims Milton Friedman as his "hero".
This is what Friedman has to says about the
minimum wage theory:
The high rate of unemployment among
teenagers, and especially black teenagers,
is both a scandal and a serious source of
social unrest. Yet it is largely a result of
minimum wage laws. We regard the minimum
wage law as one of the most, if not the
most, anti-black laws on the statute books.
Milton Friedman, Nobel Prize-winning
economist (quote from Capitalism and
Freedom)

PETA
policies kill humans
Canadian's death could alter wolf debate in
U.S.
By LEE BERGQUIST
The November death of a man in northern
Saskatchewan is thought to be the first
documented case of healthy wolves killing a
human in North America since 1900, an event
that is likely to figure in the debate over
wolf management policies in the United
States.

"The allusions to the Berlin Wall made by
aggrieved Mexican politicians miss the
irony: The communists tried to keep their
own people in, not illegal aliens out. More
embarrassing still, the comparison
boomerangs on Mexico, since it, and not the
U.S., most resembles East Germany in
alienating its own citizens to the point
that they flee at any cost. If anything
might be termed stupid, underhanded or
xenophobic in the illegal immigration
debacle, it is the conduct of the Mexican
government."

From Jay Leno:
FEMA officials are also on hand for the
celebrations in Times Square. FEMA, as you
know, has dropped the ball quite a number of
times this year.
We have had terrible rain storms here in
California. Yesterday Beverly Hills got six
inches of water. Three of which were
sparkling.
Give you an idea how bad the rain has been,
the Chia Pet I threw away on Friday is now
blocking my driveway.
President Bush says that he wants Syria and
Iran to keep al Qaeda members from entering
Iraq. al Qaeda members, we cant even keep
Florida high school students from entering
Iraq.
Did you hear about this? A high school kid
from Florida, his parents are from Iraq, he
is American born. He is of Iraqi descent. He
skipped school and snuck into Baghdad. Snuck
into Baghdad! Even Ferris Bueller is going,
"What are you nuts? Now where was President
Bush and his wiretapping buddies when this
was going on? |
