1. Pat Buchanan: Who's Practicing McCarthyism Now?

Why are the Democrats disgracing themselves and disgusting decent people with such tactics? Why are they desperate to kill the nomination of Sam Alito?

The answer, in a word, is abortion. By the end of the third day of hearings, analysts had toted up the questions. The subject that had been brought up in more questions than any other was abortion.

Michael Reagan: Stop Talking About Reagan and Start Acting Like Him
Republicans may like to brag that they are the party of Ronald Reagan and are dedicated to the policies and principles for which my dad stood, but they are acting more like members of the party of Lyndon Johnson.

David Limbaugh: Alito's Open Mind Offends Democrats
Senate Democrats, visibly frustrated over their inability to extract a confession from Judge Samuel Alito that he would definitely vote to overrule Roe vs. Wade, further jeopardizing a woman's "right" to terminate her baby's life, have resorted to abject smear tactics.

GOP Puts Faith in Alito Bloggers
For the past three days, Republican staffers on Capitol Hill have had their hands full catering to a group of VIPs who met privately with senators, talked politics with Karl Rove and were given an exclusive briefing on the GOP's key races in 2006. Who were these influential people? Bloggers.

Michelle Malkin: Hillary Wraps Herself in Armor
Move over, Joan Rivers. Sen. Hillary Clinton is vying for the title of undisputed queen of the cosmetic makeover. Having undergone a cultural warrior collagen injection with her recent crusades against violent video games and flag-burning, Hillary has traded in her ratty black pantsuit for a new politicized accessory to enhance her electoral figure: Body armor.

3. Ann Coulter: Fork Replaces Donkey as Democratic Party Symbol

I'm not sure Sen. John Cornyn was helping with that lengthy presentation attempting to establish the many similarities between Samuel Alito and Sandra Day O'Connor. It doesn't matter. Liberals are being routed. They can change the lineup, the manager, the coach, but the losing streak never ends. By and large, Republicans aren't even bothering to send in their A team anymore. Alito can start wearing his iPod to the hearings. By the end of the hearings, he'll be addressing the senators as "dude."

5. Robert Novak: Blunt Loss Would Put Him in Tough Spot

There is much talk on the Hill about Majority Whip Roy Blunt's (R-Mo.) future if he loses the race for Majority Leader. Many Republicans believe that he would have to resign as Majority Whip, lest a very uncomfortable and embarrassing situation ensue between him and the other candidates.

6. Jihad Watch: The Treason of the Media

Several weeks ago I wrote about how some cartoons of Muhammad in a Danish newspaper became an international incident. At stake is much more than some cartoons; this matter has become a test case for the continued viability of freedom of speech in Western countries. And now The Economist has written about the story in a way that reveals the biases and false assumptions so prevalent in the public discourse today.

8. Ben Franklin's Grandson Publishes Founding Father's Memoirs... "Finishes" the Autobiography in Franklin's Own Words

Much has been written about the famous Founding Father -- his celebrated "Autobiography," published after his death, is one of the greatest autobiographies of all time. But it was incomplete. Franklin ended his life's story in 1757, when he was only 51. During the remaining 33 years of his life, Franklin served as America's advocate in London, represented Pennsylvania in the Continental Congress, and was America's wartime ambassador to France. During these pivotal years Franklin also helped write our nation's Constitution and planned an American Empire that would displace the British Empire.

Now, in The Compleated Autobiography by Benjamin Franklin, we finally get the rest of the story -- in Franklin's own words. Drawing upon Franklin's letters, writings, and other original texts, Mark Skousen, Franklin's eighth-generation grandson, has compiled and edited hundreds of documents to produce the most unique autobiography in print.

The book's publisher, Regnery, has agreed to offer you a free chapter from Skousen's book. Don't pass up this opportunity.
