The Nerve Of
Vicente Fox
Mr. Right Opinion
Can you believe the nerve of this guy??? Speaking at an event for migrants in
Guanuato, Mexico on Sunday, Mexican President Vicente Fox ratcheted up his
rhetoric against a bold, and might I add long overdue, bill which passed in the
House of Representatives Friday that would greatly improve our situation in
regards to illegal immigration.
The bill calls for the construction of a fence between the United States and our
neighbors to the South, the use of police and the military in enforcement tasks,
and mandates that employers verify the legal status of all employees (oh, the
humanity of it all!).
President Fox, who has long worked to basically annex the U.S. by calling for
open borders which would allow migrants to come and go as they please, said the
passed legislation was "shameful." One question, Mr. Fox--WHO CARES??? He then
went on to compare the impending wall to the one which the great President
Reagan helped bring down. He seems to forget that the Berlin Wall was designed
to keep people IN--not OUT!!!
For far too long, this nation has endured the burden which illegals have
inflicted upon it. We have drug-runners doing whatever they want to along the
border, our educational system has been severely damaged by the overcrowding,
particularly along the border states, which the children of illegal aliens have
caused, and we have emergency rooms all along the border which are facing
closing their doors because they simply cannot afford to give away emergency
care to illegals who have no insurance, and cannot, or will not, pay for their
treatment.
As one who has traveled to Cochise County, AZ to help monitor the border with
Mexico, I have seen first-hand what damage is being done. There is real fear
among ranchers and other home owners down there-and rightfully so. Murders,
rapes, and other violent crimes are routinely committed along the border by
these folks. And the damage they do to the environment by leaving garbage, human
waste and other fine products is unspeakable.
I, for one, would like to congratulate the House for FINALLY finding the anatomy
to pass this measure. They have shown that, at least in this situation, they
finally are a House representing the people. It is something that folks like
Chris Simcox, Jim Gilchrist and countless others have been pushing for a long
time.
Now, I do not wish to give the impression here that Mr. Right Opinion opposes
immigration-far from it. After all, the vast majority of us are the product of
immigrants who came here seeking a better life...just like our friends to the
South. What I oppose is ILLEGAL immigration.
Conspicuously omitted from the legislation passed by the House on Friday was
Pres. Bush's proposed "guest-worker" program. I think that Congress is finally
getting the message which the American public has been sending out for years: no
illegal invasion, and no amnesty! I know the president doesn't choose to call it
amnesty, but like William Shakespeare said, a rose by any other name.
One other thing, for those of you who don't know it, there is a great group of
Americans called NumbersUSA which operates a website dedicated to holding
politicians accountable for illegal immigration (http://www.numbersusa.com). I
urge everyone who reads this to visit them and sign up for their action buffet.
They allow you to create faxes to your legislators, which they will then
forward, free of charge. It is a great way for you to show your patriotism with
the click of your mouse.
Until next time---
