Media outlets extend reach of KentuckyVotes.org

 (Bowling Green, Kentucky)– KentuckyVotes.org, the free voter-information service of the Bluegrass Institute, has partnered with three television stations and Louisville’s largest alternative newsweekly to provide detailed legislative coverage during the 2006 General Assembly.

Television stations WBKO (Bowling Green), WKYT (Lexington) and WYMT (Hazard) and the newsweekly Louisville Eccentric Observer (LEO) have all signed on as “content delivery partners” with KentuckyVotes.org. Each outlet will broadcast and publish legislators’ votes and other critical information about Kentucky’s legislative process during the session beginning Jan. 3.

“With KentuckyVotes.org, WKYT has again secured its position as the leader in statehouse news coverage,” said Jim Ogle, news director for television station WKYT. “Our viewers will have a leg up tracking their legislators in 2006.”

WKYT, WYMT and WBKO reach a combined two-thirds of Kentucky’s television viewers, Ogle said.

“KentuckyVotes.org makes it feasible for a small newspaper like LEO to provide detailed legislative coverage,” said Cary Stemle, LEO’s editor. “We’re pleased to give our readers this simple way to keep up with the General Assembly.”

LEO is available at more than 1,100 locations in the Louisville metro area.

“We’re extremely pleased that these news outlets have signed on to extend the reach of KentuckyVotes.org,” said Caleb O. Brown, the Web site’s director. “This partnership will give Kentucky voters a more powerful voice in 2006.”

The content-delivery partnership between KentuckyVotes.org and the news outlets begins immediately and will run at least through the end of the General Assembly session in 2006.
