Tortured Reasoning – Thomas Sowell Even if we don't intend to torture the captured terrorist, does that mean that we need to reduce our leverage by informing all terrorists around the world in advance that they can stonewall indefinitely when captured, without fear of that fate? This is not only an era of international terrorist networks but also an era of runaway litigation and runaway judges. Do we really want a federal law that will enable captured terrorists to be able to take their cases to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals? http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/thomassowell/2005/11/22/176427.html

The left hates inequality, not evil – Dennis Prager  How else can one explain the Left's enchantment with Fidel Castro, the totalitarian ruler of Cuba? Clearly his evil is of little consequence. What matters to people on the Left is that there is free health care and almost universal literacy in Cuba. Whereas non-leftists believe that it is far better to be illiterate but free, leftists believe that it is better to be a literate slave. http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/dennisprager/2005/11/22/176430.html

In defense of fathers - Requiem for the leftist welfare utopia - Leftists have devised a simple yet amazingly effective formula to engender social discord: break up the family, marginalize fathers, and then blame the whole mess on men. http://www.newswithviews.com/Roberts/carey94.htm

The Katrina Experiment – Another Ill Wind – by Star Parker First, the common denominator of low-income-housing programs over these last 40 years is that they have been consistent failures. .. Second, and, frankly, revolting, is how graphically clear it is that social "scientists" view poor blacks as simple laboratory guinea pigs. …The social-science elitists may find it hard to believe, but poor blacks really can figure out what they need to do when the facts are put in front of them and the responsibility is theirs to act. http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/StarParker/2005/11/21/176231.html

The big lie – Michael Barone The propagators of the big lie against President Bush are trying to delegitimize not only him, but also all the progress that has been made as a result of Iraq, progress both toward freedom for Middle Easterners and toward a Middle East that will no longer threaten the United States. http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/michaelbarone/2005/11/21/176229.html

The conspiracy against taxpayers - Total compensation among professional workers in the public sector is on average 11 percent higher than for similar jobs in the private sector…The federal government’s national compensation survey estimates that local public school districts pay teachers an average of $47.97 per hour in total compensation, including $12.39 per hour in benefits ….While state officials now complain that they can no longer afford Medicaid programs that they themselves have designed, they don’t stop using them for political payoffs and patronage….when a Connecticut local affiliated with SEIU went on strike against nursing homes, workers engaged in vandalism and sabotage aimed at patients, according to an investigation by the state’s attorney, including removing identification bracelets from Alzheimer’s patients, feeding chocolate to diabetics, and loosening bolts on lifts used to support patients….Ohio secretary of state Ken Blackwell is stirring up taxpayer support for a constitutional amendment to cap state spending increases.   http://www.city-journal.org/html/15_4_taxpayers.html

The solution to outrageous lawsuits – John Stossel   The legal system should be reformed so people bear the consequences of their own bad choices. The best solution would be to make people who file baseless lawsuits pay the costs of defending against them. "Loser pays," that system is called, and that's the way it works in most of the civilized world. America's tort lawyers cleverly call loser-pays the "the English Rule," as if it's an odd British idea. It's not. It's the "Rest-of-the-World Rule." Only America suffers under the bizarre "American Rule," which allows lawyers to sue again and again, while forcing others to pay. Loser-pays would bring some justice to their victims. http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/JohnStossel/2005/11/23/176558.html

Joe Enge is a history teacher in Nevada who dares to teach pre-Civil War history in his U.S. history class.  Chuck Muth has been following the conflict (and stirring it up!).  Check out the progress at:  http://www.theengefiles.com/

What white flight? – Thomas Sowell Almost never do the social experimenters relocate dysfunctional and dangerous people into their own elite neighborhoods. They unsort other people's neighborhoods and embitter other people's lives. http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/thomassowell/2005/11/24/176688.html
