How did your Kentucky Legislator Vote? Commentaries by:
“[State controlled] education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” – Joseph Stalin
"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever. But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with." --Ronald Reagan
“Give me four
years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be
uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924) |
"Politics must be the battle of the principles---the principle of liberty against the principle of force." ---Auberon Herbert
The Real Thanksgiving Story by Theresa Fritz Camoriano (a repeat – but a story well worth remembering) When I was a child, I learned in school about the pilgrims, about the Indians teaching them to plant corn, and about the Thanksgiving celebration. We made turkeys out of construction paper and dressed in the hats and collars of the pilgrims; we ate turkey, corn, and cranberry sauce, but we never learned the real Thanksgiving story. Only when I began home schooling my daughter and reading history from original sources did I learn the real lessons from the Plymouth colony. (click to read more)
Liberals are Causing a European Jihad. By Justin Darr After more than two weeks of nightly violence, the rioting of Europe’s Muslim minority has finally begun to subside. While the French government and Main Stream Media may be eager to pretend that the events of the last month were an anomaly, or persist in the notion that the underlying issues that incited the violence are now being addressed, the current lull in the violence in Europe is just that -- a lull. The violence is doomed to return in the future. Europe is fast becoming ground zero in a clash of civilizations between two equally intolerant cultures, radical Islam and Liberalism. CATS leaves neediest children further behind (Bowling Green, Kentucky) – New research by the Bluegrass Institute reveals that Kentucky’s education system is abandoning an increasing number of our children. Numerous schools are legally avoiding the reporting requirements mandated by the nation’s No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law. (click to read more)
Fletcher, Bush Administrations Prove Evil of Politics By Jeff “Mario” Smith, Guerilla Reporter As a political independent, I have been sitting on the sidelines observing the phenomenon of “party government”. We independents aren’t very well represented within the corrupt two party system our elected officials have installed. Party government has replaced the representative government created by the Founders, men of virtue who built our Constitutional Republic. (click to read more)
Kentucky Omnibus bills yield ominous results By Caleb O. BrownIt seems that Frankfort’s politicians will do almost anything these days to avoid a substantive debate on tax-and-spending policies. Including unpopular projects or taxes in an omnibus bill, which packages together several measures into a single piece of legislation, has become a favorite tactic of those wishing to escape accountability while still bringing home the pork. It’s a tool that allows state government’s big spenders to avoid debate on each of the important proposed policies included in the bill. (click to read more)
Ohio Libertarians Endorse Peirce for Governor The Libertarian Party of Ohio voted unanimously to endorse Dr. Bill Peirce in his race for Ohio Governor in a special convention at the Hyatt on Capital Square in Columbus The Peirce campaign's "Freedom to Prosper" plan proposes to cut taxes across the board, eliminate Taft's increases, protect homeowners and business people from eminent domain abuse, and create real school choice for parents and teachers. In Defense of Terrell Owens By Jonathan David Morris I’ve been watching sports for a long time. But in all my years, I have never seen anything like what’s transpired in Philly the last few months—and especially the last few weeks—between the Eagles and all-but-former-Eagle Terrell Owens. Most people already know the facts about this situation, since it’s one of those rare few sports stories that transcend sports/SportsCenter and make it onto the evening news. But for those who’ve been preoccupied with other, more “important” stories (i.e., riots in France; bombings in Jordan; hockey), here’s a quick recap to get you up to speed: (click to read more)
"Before and after Hurricane Katrina, businesses and charities responded effectively. Government failed at even its most basic task of protecting lives and property from criminals. When massive and bloated governments at all levels disappoint, the solution is not to give them more money. Rather, the solution lies in a government limited in scope and ambition, and focused on its essential functions." - David Boaz of the Cato Institute

“The truth is that private ownership of property is the greatest instrument of freedom ever designed and it is sheer folly to speak of granting a man freedom while withholding that instrument from him.” — Bertel M. Sparks "The
worst crime against working people is a company which fails to operate
at a profit."
[G]overnment takes anywhere from 35 percent to 50 percent of our income. In the Middle Ages, feudal lords took about 20 percent of their serfs' crops to pay for the lords' protection. The medieval serfs of Europe were taxed less than the new middle-class serfs of America. – Joel Turtel
“The dominant political doctrine ruling America today is socialism. Socialism rests on the idea that compassion is a moral and political duty, not a personal choice. Under the socialist Welfare or Entitlement State, government forces us to help others, whether we like it or not. Compassion has been turned into compulsion.” – Joel Turtel
