This Week At Acton

2006 Acton University

  The Acton Institute is pleased to announce the Acton University. The Acton University will take place in Grand Rapids, Mich., June 13-17. Building off the success of 2005’s Acton Symposium, the university will be a unique, four-day exploration of the intellectual foundations of a free society. Participants will build their own curriculum, choosing from more than fourty courses ranging from the theological and philosophical to the policy-oriented and practical. 2005 Acton Essay Competition

  The Acton Essay Competition encourages scholarly reflection on the role of religion in promoting and securing a society of free and responsible persons. Guidelines and article citations for this year's topic, Created Imago Dei, have been announced at the Essay Competition Web page. Entries must be postmarked by November 15th, 2005.

Novak Award Recipient VanDrunen to Give Calihan Lecture

  Professor David M. VanDrunen of Westminster Seminary California will give the annual Calihan Lecture on Tuesday, November 15 at the seminary chapel in Escondido, Calif. VanDrunen will speak on “The Importance of the Penultimate: Reformed Social Thought and the Contemporary Critiques of the Liberal Society.” The Calihan Lecture is delivered by the recipient of the prestigious Novak Award, a $10,000 prize.

2005 Spanish Homiletics Award Winners Announced

  The Acton Institute is pleased to announce the recipients of its third annual Spanish-language Homiletics Award (Premio a la Homilía en Español), an annual competition for seminarians and graduate students preparing for a career in preaching and teaching ministries.
