Terry’s Tidbits

November 7, 2005

Terry Gray

Is it Time Yet?

In 1996 Claire Wolfe wrote the words, “America is at that awkward stage. It’s too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards.”  She was making reference to the destroyers of our country.

Today it is clear that soon something will have to be done.  We are practically in ruins as the sheeple go about their daily lives and ignore the things that should send their hair standing.  The whole scenario reminds me of a farmyard scene where the pigs in the pen between the cattle and the poultry are being herded into the slaughter house.  The chickens and cows glance nonchalantly at the poor pigs and continue grazing and pecking.  Even the screams of the pigs and the smell of their blood have no effect.

It gets worse.  Even when the slaughterers come for some chickens, the other chickens scramble out of the way but still go about their business, apathetic to or not understanding the perils of their brethren.

The analogy gets muddy as it continues.  We see what is happening and fully comprehend the oppressive abuses that are going on around us.  We also breathe a sigh of relief that it isn’t us that is being dragged to the slaughter, which takes us right back to the analogy; we are being dragged to the slaughter.  It is only a matter of time before they come for us and those around us breathe the same sigh of relief that it wasn’t them.

There is another problem that we humans face when confronted with our own demise at the hands of authority.  Those around us who stand up and make noise at the system are branded as “insane extremists”.  We aren’t in “compliance” with the plan.  The system is so good at this that we soon find ourselves agreeing that the “offenders” are crazy and shouldn’t be taken seriously.  The politically correct name for those who see the problems and scream out is “conspiracy theorists”.  Folks, it isn’t a theory that there is a conspiracy afoot that has been growing for longer than most of us can remember.  We, the true government, are losing our hold on our country and our lives.

Is it too early to shoot the bastards?  Maybe it is almost too late.  Many of us are fat and happy and content to watch the pigs go to slaughter.  Others are disarmed because they are not in compliance with the plan, their silence guaranteed through authority’s big hand.  Many more are under government care and rocking the boat is far from their minds.  Has the time come and gone?  Will it come again?  Maybe we should ask the pigs.

Go to Is It Time Yet?  Is Claire on to something?

Savage Candy

What is the deal with Halloween and child molesters?  Is there a history of child molesters attacking kids during Halloween?  Are bank robbers still allowed to do banking?  Are perjurers still allowed to speak?  Are those convicted of DUI still allowed to drink?

Yes, child molesters are bad people.   But I say that this whole fear thing rests right on the shoulders of parents.  If you let your kids go trick or treating alone then you are just plain stupid.  If your child gets molested while with you then you need to go to prison.

Now let’s look at Halloween.  It is a pagan ritual in which a child wears a mask, approaches a stranger on the stranger’s property, and then uses extortion to receive some sugar-laden, unhealthy booty.  My God, people, what kind of parents are you?  You might want to reexamine what you are teaching your kids before you come down on someone who has paid his debt.

Seatbelts for Money

Hey, Kentucky wants to give police the authority to pull you over specifically for not wearing a seatbelt.  The law now says that you must have committed a “primary” driving infraction before you can be cited for not wearing a seatbelt.  Of course, if a cop wants to pull you over, he will find a reason to do so.

They tell us that seatbelts save lives.  I agree that they do.  But whose life do they save?  I am the one taking the risk, and as such, I should be the one to decide if I want to wear a seatbelt.  Do not protect me from myself.  (See, Is it Time Yet?).  We are experiencing this same mentality in many areas of our lives and it has got to stop!

Kentucky wants us to know that it is looking out for us – to the tune of $10 million.  If Kentucky makes not wearing a seatbelt a “primary” offense, then the feds may give us a big hunk of money (which they took from our pockets in the first place).  Now add to that the amount of bucks that the state will make on “non-compliance” fines and anyone can see that it is worth telling an adult, driving alone in his car, that he has to wear a seatbelt.

Isn’t it amazing how much they care for us?  I wonder why they don’t like bikers who not only don’t have to wear seatbelts; they don’t have to wear helmets, either.

Don’t Believe it.

Product manufacturers like to use actors as spokesmen.  Do we really feel that there is some credibility associated with people who pretend for a living?  In order to get noticed as an actor, one must practice deceiving people.  In fact, there are many schools that teach people how to pretend.  When you get really good at it, then you make a lot of money and manufacturers pay you to convince people to buy their products.

The logic is lost on me.

The Big Day

Is everyone ready for the big day when we cannot smoke in private businesses?  I was in a smoke shop recently, and they didn’t know that a smoking ban goes into effect in Louisville on November 15.  I’d say that this news is going to come as a surprise to a lot of people.  And we wonder why we are losing our freedoms.

This appeared in the Miami Sun-Herald on Wednesday, 11-03-05:  “On July 1, 2003, the new smoking prohibition became effective.”  There it is folks, the word that we have been expecting for a long time but one that the smoke-Nazis held back from saying.  Their agenda has always been one of prohibition, but to utter the word would only serve to push people away.  Now they have enough power and confidence to come out of the closet.  (See, Is it Time Yet?).

New Albany and Jeffersonville Indiana are studying a smoking ban.  What’s to study?  Either do it or don’t.  There is no further scientific study to turn the debate black and white.  There has never been any conclusive evidence that second hand smoke is killing people, but bans still happen.  Obviously, there is no respect for property rights or freedom to choose for our citizens either.

I wrote to Councilman Kochert of New Albany in response to his stupid statement in the Courier Journal a few days ago.  He said, “People who smoke infringe upon my rights.  If I walk into a restaurant, I should be able to breathe clean air."  No, you really shouldn’t, Councilman, unless the restaurant is voluntarily smoke-free or if you own the restaurant.  No one is forcing you to go into any restaurant and clog your little lungs.  I told him, “You don’t own the restaurant.  No one is forcing you to patronize the restaurant. Your patronage of a restaurant is a privilege, not a right, and your participation in free enterprise is voluntary.  If you want a smoke-free restaurant, open one.  Your right to breathe clean air ends when you enter the property of another.  You have no right to breathe clean air.  Places of business are not public property; the Supreme Court agrees.  You are infringing upon the rights of property owners and smokers if you pass a smoking ban.”  I haven’t heard back from him.

I also wrote to the Jeffersonville City Council and let them know that passing a smoking ban would be financially foolish.  With 25,000 smokers in Louisville facing a shortage of smoker - friendly restaurants, Jeffersonville stands to gain a lot of business.  Councilman Eddie Z. of District 2 responded that he agrees and he won’t be voting for the ban.

Georgetown Kentucky has 3 proposals on the agenda to weaken their smoking ban.  This comes after the ban has only been in effect for 30 days.  I wonder why they wish to weaken it.  Could it be that the city is losing money and that smokers and business owners are up in arms?  That is a very real possibility simply because the biased media do not cover the other side of the issue.

Update on Georgetown:  The powers that be have decided to allow more smoking rooms in hotels/motels but not to allow smoking in Bingo Halls.  First we have an odd twist in this new swing.  Anti-smoking groups will use most any button they can push to get their agenda on the books.  One of those buttons is the amount of fires that are caused by smoking in bed.  So, Georgetown is going to allow more smoking rooms that present the potential of fires due to smoking in bed but is not going to allow smoking in Bingo Halls.  I’ve yet to hear of someone burning to death from smoking in Bingo.

The second part of this decision is as plain as day.  Georgetown is either already losing hotel/motel money from smokers taking their business elsewhere or there have been serious threats of conventions and such taking their business elsewhere.

Power, money, and hate all thrown together to oppress a group of Americans comprising 25% of the population and our leaders kneel down to those really running the show – The Smoke Nazis.  Sounds like something out of our history books.

Now the penitentiary in LaGrange has elected to go smoke free by April of next year.  This ban holds for employees as well as inmates.  They also ban alcohol and drugs but that doesn’t keep them from getting drunk and high.  The warden said that cigarettes have long been traded on the black market in the pen.  Well guess what warden; you’ve just increased the black market trade.  This ban is just another step in showing inmates as well as others that law enforcement is something to be despised, not respected.

Eat Kraut

Genetic News online reported on Wednesday that eating sauerkraut may cure or prevent bird flu.  Sales of sauerkraut have skyrocketed in the Midwest as Bush pledged $7.1 billion to fight the disease.  Kind of reminds me of NASA spending millions to develop an ink pen that would write in zero gravity while the Russians used pencils.
