Terry’s Tidbits By Terry Gray September 12, 2005
As Seen on Contest Rules “If a Canadian resident is chosen at random as the potential winner, the Canadian resident must correctly answer a skill-testing question within a two-minute limitation, without assistance of any kind, mechanical or otherwise, to win the prize.” This kind of stuff certainly makes one proud to be from anywhere but Canada.
Man Makes George Feel Icky Mr. Phillip Bailey, a U of L student wrote in an online discussion board, "I say shoot every cop, National Guard and politician who stands in your way, including George W. Bush if need be." (For the Secret Service goons reading this, the above sentence is a quote. I am only repeating it for literary purposes. Killing every cop, National Guard, and policeman is overreaction at its best.) Where is the threat? The “authorities” are up in arms because of this statement. They are outwardly concerned because they say that someone may take Mr. Bailey up on it. Need I express how stupid it is to believe that people who would otherwise be perfectly content not to shoot these people as directed, will maybe shoot these people because of a statement made in a discussion board? Hell, it takes a fairly powerful man to inspire people to even vote. Do you think the Secret Service or Homeland Security would investigate me if I suggested that we make George the king? Is this not a threat to the very structure of our political system and our constitution? Wouldn’t this statement “appear to intend” that I favored a monarchy over a republic? Is this not un-American? And how many people leading their daily lives would climb atop my suggestion and run out to take on the challenge of installing King George I?
Seek and Destroy Vice President Cheney was recently sent to the Gulf coast to seek out the bureaucracy that swept through the hurricane devastation on the Gulf and destroy it. This was a very self-destructive mission.
Starve for Your Own Good FEMA has refused to feed or water the folks in New Orleans who refuse to evacuate their homes. It has been deemed dangerous to one’s health to stay in this “toxic” area and for this reason it has been ordered that all residents must leave their homes. It is obvious that this is not a lesson in safety. If that were the case, FEMA would be taking every step necessary to provide food and water to these folks who strongly maintain their American values of determination and ownership. They may not be the brightest souls on the planet but they are sticking to their guns, even under siege. This is a lesson in obedience to government power. Comply or starve rings loudly. Hopefully this authority attitude will at last demonstrate to more Americans that the government owns us and we should not be of the ilk that deals well with being owned. On a similar note, the $2,000 debit cards that are being issued to evacuees have strings attached. Do I think the debit cards are a good idea? Hell no. It seems that some people are showing up for the cards when they haven’t been impacted by the storm. There is no doubt about it; these folks have been trained in ripping off the public and their lessons have come directly from those in charge of ripping off the public. But this whole liberal system of entitlement has been set up by our government for control purposes and to do anything other than control would be out of character for Uncle Sugar. To find one’s relatives, authorities are taking DNA samples of evacuees so that they may match them to bodies or other evacuees in order to provide positive identification of the dead or those being sheltered elsewhere. What a wonderful way to conduct identity theft.
Power Stroke Call me silly but I believe that the Bush administration knew exactly what it was doing when it didn’t respond to Katrina. If the feds drag their feet as they did in New Orleans the people are going to scream for more government involvement. The government can then answer the call by ignoring the constitutional rights of its citizens. I’ve heard it said that active duty soldiers are in New Orleans. I’ve heard it said that cops are disarming our citizens. Both of these spank our rights. I think the best quote I heard about this whole Katrina deal came from a man who refused to leave. He said he was dry, he had food, he had water, he had a generator, and he was fine. When asked if he was afraid of looters he replied, “I was afraid of looters but now I’m afraid of the National Guard.
