Protect Your Access to Health Information: Dear Theresa, On May 12, 2005, Congressman Ron Paul (14th District -- Texas) introduced the Consumers Access to Health Information Act (Bill 2352). The purpose of the bill is to ensure that "consumers can receive truthful information about how foods and dietary supplements can cure, mitigate, and prevent specific diseases." Simply put, this bill will restore consumer access to information about the benefits of nutritional supplements, a right guaranteed under the First Amendment. Why Do We Need This Legislation? At present, manufacturers must go through the FDA's long and costly drug approval process in order to provide such information. As a result, information on safe, inexpensive nutritional supplements that could improve the health and even save the lives of millions of Americans is just not getting out. This Bill Is About Health -- and Freedom "Thanks to the FDA," states Congressman Paul, "the American public is prevented from learning about possible ways to prevent cancer, Alzheimer's, high blood pressure, urinary tract infection, and numerous other diseases. "At a time when health care costs are rising, it is absurd for the federal government to prevent Americans from learning how they can increase their chances of staying healthy". However, this bill is about more than physical health; it is about freedom." How You Can Help Let's bombard the House of Representatives with emails and phone calls championing this bill. Join the Whitaker Health Freedom Foundation Sincerely, Julian Whitaker, M.D.
