Life’s Little Ironies

By Theresa Fritz Camoriano

1.       Judicial filibuster – The same people who accuse judges of being extremists when they stick to the traditional letter of the law have suddenly become staunch traditionalists when it comes to the filibuster.  Amazing!

2.       Kentucky Hiring Scandal? -- The Democrats, who have been in charge of Kentucky politics for as long as anyone can remember, presiding over countless scandals and using government to reward their friends, are suddenly shocked, shocked!!! that the Fletcher administration may have favored its friends when it made hiring decisions that were supposed to be based on merit.  Apparently, since Governor Fletcher ran on a platform of “cleaning up Frankfort”, the Democrats hope that any hint of impropriety will derail his administration.  While there is little doubt that, given enough time in power, the Republicans will become as corrupt as the Democrats have been, they haven’t had enough time yet in Kentucky even to begin to compete with their predecessors.
