“[State controlled] education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” – Joseph Stalin

"[I]f you serve a child a rotten hamburger in America, federal, state, and local agencies will investigate you, summon you, close you down, whatever.  But if you provide a child with a rotten education, nothing happens, except that you're liable to be given more money to do it with."

--Ronald Reagan

“Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924)

Kentucky Policies Prevent Progress          By Theresa Fritz Camoriano

Steve Higdon, President of Greater Louisville Inc., Louisville’s Chamber of Commerce, addressed the Louisville Venture Club on May 4, summarizing  an economic report that explains why Kentucky has fallen behind other states in terms of economic growth.  Higdon explained that the cities are the economic engines that provide the jobs and taxes, but, instead of appreciating their contribution to the state’s economy, the state legislature drains them of resources, making them uncompetitive as compared with cities like Nashville and Indianapolis.  Higdon said the traditional businesses of agriculture, horses, and mining account for only 3% of the state’s economy, but they receive the lion’s share of attention in the state legislature.               (click to read more)

Veto the VET         By Larry Brown

On behalf of Veto the V.E.T., I am submitting the following information to support the ending of vehicle emission testing Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties in Kentucky. It is our assertion that the regulations, arbitrary air quality standards, and implementation of testing have been poor public policy resulting in the wasting of millions of consumer dollars.  The auto manufacturer is producing an efficient, durable emission system that is in fact cleaning the air.  Furthermore, it is apparent few consumers have the ability, knowledge or desire to alter their emission systems. Since the 1990 Clean Air Act, every category of air quality is improving, and most experts believe it is a trend to continue for the next two decades without testing or additional EPA regulations.             (click to read more)

Someone is planning your future        By Henry Lamb

What could Marion County, Ind., and Lincoln County, N.M., possibly have in common? In Marion County, nearly a million people are packed into 403 square miles, with a density of 2,172 people per square mile. Lincoln County stretches over 4,831 square miles, and on a good day, can muster only 19,411 people – that's four people per square mile.              (click to read more)

Liberals lose grip on media, but not creativity       by Kenn Gividen,  Libertarian Writers' Bureau

Thank goodness for liberals.

The never-ending exploits of attention-starved left-wingers provide some amusing insights into that peculiar wasteland called liberal thought. Their meanderings are chock full of unadulterated entertainment value. In fact, if it weren't for their selfless contributions to political dialog, the rest of us may be bored into oblivion.

Sympathy For The Devil--Murderers Call Sleeping 'Inhumane'...plus a little history lesson in capital punishment          by Michael Minton thegunnerscorner

In what seems to me to be an unbelievable move, convicted murderers around the country, including right here in my beloved Kentucky, are claiming that being put to sleep, as a means of carrying out a death sentence, is “cruel and inhumane!” What in the world?!?!              (click to read more)

The Big Red Machine        By Jonathan David Morris

Life was better under Soviet rule.

Well, actually, let me rephrase that. What I mean is, I liked it better when Americans lived in fear of the Soviets.

It ruled.              (click to read more)

“Freedom rests, and always will, on individual responsibility, individual integrity, individual effort, individual courage, and individual religious faith. It does not rest in Washington. It rests with you and me.

Two things you and I can do, and two only. First, we can practice what we profess. Second, we can each preach, from our own personal pulpit, the principles we practice, whether that pulpit looks out upon a continent, a country town, or a single cottage.

As we thus prove our faith by our works — as we accept with diligence and devotion the responsibility for areas within our reach — as we inspire those about us and send them in turn to inspire others — we shall find that we are making an ever-increasing contribution to the accomplishment of our century’s most challenging job.”— Ed Lipscomb

"The Internal Revenue Service said Thursday a record number of Americans paid their taxes online this year. The system still has a few bugs. They haven't yet figured out a way to get the shirt off your back through the telephone wire." --Argus Hamilton

"To those who cite the First Amendment as reason for excluding God from more and more of our institutions every day, I say: The First Amendment of the Constitution was not written to protect the people of this country from religious values; it was written to protect religious values from government tyranny." --Ronald Reagan

"We pray as Americans have always prayed: with confidence in God's purpose, with hope for the future, and with the humility to ask God's help to do what is right." --President George W. Bush
