 Is secondary smoke actually a health threat?

To put it simply, in any real sense of the word “threat,” the answer is no. 

“How can that be?” you might ask….  “How can everything I’ve seen on TV be wrong?”

The answer is simple, sad, and shouldn’t really be that unexpected: money.

Over the last thirty years, the Antismoking Lobby has grown from a small and loose collection of extremists and a few lawyers to a multi-national industry controlling the purse strings of over 800 million dollars a year.

Those purse strings buy a lot of media savvy and a lot of studies designed to please the purse string controllers.  Think about it for a moment:  if you want to get a grant from the “Center For Tobacco Free Kids” would you design a study that would show secondary smoke to be fairly harmless or one that would portray it as deadlier than the Bubonic Plague?

The same situation holds with politicians, although with an additional factor in play:  It’s not just purse strings the Smoking Prohibitionists can pluck at election time… it’s heart strings too.

Again, think about it for a moment… would you rather be pictured on the evening news as a "Big Tobacco Politician" or as one trying to “Save the Children’s Lungs"?

Fifty years ago, Big Tobacco had the power to control the studies and the media coverage. Today, “Big Antismoking” is the major player in the field.

Go to http://cantiloper.tripod.com and read about the lies told to, accepted by, and then rebroadcast by the media.  Then go read some of the studies themselves for confirmation.  You’ll be surprised.

Don’t let yourself be thrown out into the cold. Visit City Hall and tell the Councilcritters IN PERSON what you think! That REALLY gets their attention!

Smokers are plumbers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, soldiers, mechanics, writers, sports heroes, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and neighbors.  They are not your enemy.  Those who would have you believe otherwise are your true enemies.
