Cynicism exposed – Thomas Sowell Anyone who does not understand the utter cynicism of politics does not understand politics. An education on that subject can be found in Mona Charen's incisive new book, "Do-Gooders." http://www.jewishworldreview.com/cols/sowell031505.asp

The history of public education All one has to do is read a Farmer's Journal of those early days to realize the high level of literacy that was enjoyed by the general population in America prior to the advent of the public schools. …That is why more and more parents are beginning to realize that the public schools are not interested in education but in social change and social control. A government education system is basically incompatible with the values of a free society. Eventually, one or the other must go. http://www.home-school.com/Articles/phs30-samblumenfeld.html

Minimum Wage – Maximum Folly – Walter Williams The idea that minimum wage legislation is an anti-poverty tool is simply sheer nonsense. Were it an anti-poverty weapon, we might save loads of foreign aid expenditures simply by advising legislators in the world's poorest countries, such as Haiti, Bangladesh and Ethiopia, to legislate higher minimum wages. Even applied to the United States, there's little evidence suggesting that increases in the minimum wage help the poor. …one effect of minimum wages is that of discriminating against the employment of low-skilled workers. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/walterwilliams/ww20050323.shtml

Faith in the FCC - Today perhaps the antics of a Howard Stern will be outlawed by increased governmental regulation. But tomorrow it may be that simply reading from Paul’s letter to the Romans will be prohibited as hate speech, indecent, or otherwise intolerant. http://www.acton.org/ppolicy/comment/article.php?id=255
Court-ordered euthanasia "The persistent vegetative state is increasingly referred to simply as the vegetative state. The use of vegetative in these expressions is gravely misleading since it suggests that a person in such a condition has somehow ceased to be human." …"All one has to do is view the videos on the Schiavo web site, www.terrisfight.org, to see that she is not in a comatose or vegetative condition," Dr. Kennedy notes. "But even if she were, that would not legitimize her court-ordered execution." …"Not only is the state sanctioning involuntary euthanasia, but this sets an awful precedent in which society judges an individual by his or her perceived utility." http://www.thenewamerican.com/artman/publish/printer_1038.shtml
PRESIDENT BUSH'S DEADLY IRANIAN CONCESSION In return for Iran's agreement to temporarily cease the work needed to produce a nuclear bomb, President Bush has agreed to allow Iran to buy civilian airplane parts, and to drop opposition to Iran's membership in the World Trade Organization. These concessions are exactly the same as the British government's concessions to Hitler in 1935. They will have the same results: the strengthening of an enemy dictatorship that is building a war machine. --> http://www.CapMag.com/article.asp?ID=4172
