Role Models on Steroid Issue

While calling for good people to step up to the plate and exemplify good behavior is a noble endeavour, the problem with this concept, as I see it, is this whole notion of "role models".

Parents are the ultimate role models and that is where the failure resides. To allow our children to look to entertainers as role models is to allow the "world" to raise our children. I make sure my children understand that sports figures are nothing more than entertainers and that entertainment is a luxury we can all do without, especially the highly paid, loudmouth entertainers of today.

A better solution is to relegate sports and entertainment to the back burner instead of the front burner which is the "biggest failure of our generation".

I use the analogy that if we were to run out of food, it is the entertainers and the media who would starve first and we wouldn't miss them too much.
