Whiney College Student Does Not Want to Pay for Her Own Education By Mario, Guerilla Reporter
In a display of the success of government indoctrination through state controlled free public education, Western Kentucky University student government representative Jessica Martin spoke at a rally in the state capital recently protesting the 14.5% increase in tuition. Don’t have any coffee or food in your mouth when you read this next statement.
According to the Heraldo-Liberal, Martin said, and I quote, “It troubles me how comfortable people are with passing these costs off to students.” Er, uh, excuse me? It isn’t my education, or my child’s education, you are asking me to fund Miss Martin, it is YOUR education, get it, YOUR Education! Yes, the socialists who have taken over our k-12 schools and our various government arms of education have been very successful in their quest to indoctrinate. Miss Martin does not think she has to work for her education and pay for it herself; she believes she is entitled to higher education simply because she exists.
In state students already suck over $19,566.00 each from taxpayers, per year, in their quests to become college educated, an overrated goal at best, but that is for another discussion. Now, they don’t want to have to endure a 14.5% rate increase, why? Because Miss Martin and her classmates believe that it is the job of society to provide a free college education for them. Sorry, not this guy.
I went into the Army, served my country, and used the GI Bill to go to college and then had to work several more jobs to make it all come together. I decided that a 4 year Engineering degree was too lofty a goal for a married student with one child so I settled for a two year Associates Degree from Lexington Technical Institute. That put me into the work force quicker and I started working my way up the proverbial ladder. We had to suck up tuition increases too, and we did it without a lot of whining. I was too busy working part-time jobs to go to Frankfort and protest in a setup show complete with college sports mascots. Give me a break!
Erin Skeans said that students are worried that they can’t afford to keep going to school. So what! Lay out a semester or two, save some money by working as much as you can and spending as little as possible. Don’t tell the taxpayers that you are “entitled” to a free college education and the rest of us have to pay for it. What ever happened to work ethic in this country? Oh, that’s right, excuse me, we are now a socialist democracy, what was I thinking?
