Get Rid of “Reformulated” Gas

By John Riley

The Metro Louisville Air Pollution Control District and the State of Kentucky stand to lose more of their credibility if they ignore the issue of getting rid of the "reformulated" gas that is being used while they discuss the issue of air pollution in Jefferson County and the proposed STAR program.

The "reformulated" (ethanol) fuel is more expensive, 10-20+% less efficient and CREATES MORE POLLUTION. If the APCD is serious about air pollution in Metro Louisville (we will find out soon) then there needs to be serious discussions about ending the use of this fuel.

Please read the following article and you will understand the dire need to end its use and the blatant politics behind "reformulated" fuel.  You should demand that its use be ended in Metro Louisville, the State of Kentucky and any other state that is using it.

There is ample documentation that is readily available that would lead any reasonable person that is concerned with pollution (not to mention the back pockets of average citizens) to call for ending its use.  This is just one article among many many articles and studies that should not be ignored.

If you need any further documentation to support ending the use of "reformulated" fuel, please let me know or just do a few simple searches on the internet for information.  Unless you are a part of the "political" problem that apparently is attempting to protect the ethanol industry or you are a complete idiot, then you will certainly understand the need to ban the use of "reformulated" fuel in Kentucky.  REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE EPA (Environmental POLITICAL Administration) says!

I can assure you that the APCD, Metro Louisville Government and the State of Kentucky will be making a grave political mistake to ignore this issue and continue to insist on using "reformulated" fuel in Kentucky.  If the appointed and elected officials thought the people were angry about the fraudulent Vehicle Emissions Testing (VET) Program, you ain't seen nothing yet!

I encourage the APCD, the Mayor and the Metro City Council to put this issue on the table as they are discussing the proposed STAR program to reduce pollution.  I look forward to their decision either way, and my hope is that they put the politics aside and not put their credibility on the line by ignoring the issue!

IMPORTANT!!!!

The "formal comment period" ends at 5:00 PM MONDAY FEB. 14th.

It would be extremely important to submit documentation and a statement advocating ending the use of reformulated gas into the public record!!!!

I hope you do!  TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!!!!

There is some confusion about when the public hearing will be.  The APCD site says Wednesday the 16th @ 2:00 PM and the Courier Journal article says Thursday the 17th @ 2:00 PM?

YOU CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE PUBLIC HEARING to submit "FORMAL COMMENTS"!!!!!!!

Cheers!

JR
