Sen. Kerry is asked to sign release form http://www.judicialwatch.org/4275.shtml Anti-intellectualism among the academic elite – Walter Williams Dr. Lawrence Summers, president of Harvard University, has been excoriated for suggesting that innate differences between men and women might be one of the reasons fewer women succeed in the higher reaches of science and math. Adding insult to injury, he also questioned the role of sex discrimination in the small number of female professors in science and engineering at elite universities…. It's not that important whether Dr. Summers is right or wrong. What's important is the attempt by some of the academic elite to stifle inquiry…. The creed of the leftist religion is that any difference between people is a result of evil social forces. That's a vision that can lead to the return to the Dark Ages. http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=4119 Free elections in Iraq – Victory and Defeat – Thomas Sowell The defeatists who have been defeated are already saying that the election is "just the first step" toward democracy. Every step is just one step. Invading Normandy was just one step, the battle of Midway was just one step. But, without those steps, World War II might not have been won. … Senator Kerry was just one of the defeatist elitists who regarded the communist bloc as a "fact of life" which we could only accept and which it was futile to waste resources opposing….They imagined themselves to be so much wiser than other people that condescension was only natural, as they brushed aside any other viewpoint with such dismissive words as "cowboy" or even "stupid." The fact that events proved the defeatist elitists dead wrong in the Cold War -- and now again in the Iraqi elections -- has not yet broken through their smugness….Probably nothing ever will. But that does not mean that the rest of us need to keep taking their high opinion of themselves seriously. … The courage of the Iraqis should shame the defeatists -- if they had any shame. http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=4118 The mealy-mouthed media – Thomas Sowell First of all, the left does not accept the proposition that other people have just as many rights as they do. This is obvious not only in the disorder and vandalism they inflict in the streets but also their intolerance on academic campuses across the country, where students who question the party line are hemmed in by speech codes and ridiculed and intimidated by professors who do not hesitate to punish them with low grades. … We are seeing the ugly face of intolerance under the idealistic pretense of protest. We need to recognize it for what it is, even if the media refuse to do so. Above all, we need to see it as a warning of where our society is headed. Whether at home or abroad, if political conflicts are reduced to contests between the wimps and the barbarians, the barbarians are going to win. http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=4114 Western Media – Fourth Estate or Fifth Column? – Thomas Sowell Real insurgents want to get the occupying power out of their country. But the fastest way to get Americans out of Iraq would be to do the opposite of what these "insurgents" are doing. Just by letting peace and order return, those who want to see American troops gone would speed their departure. But the real goal of the guerrillas and terrorists is to prevent freedom from arising in the Middle East. Still, much of the Western media even cannot call a spade a spade. The Fourth Estate sometimes seems more like a Fifth Column. http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=4112

Criticism of AARP From bogus surveys designed to promote a hidden liberal agenda to actively promoting liberal causes like gay marriage, the AARP has become one of America's most active liberal lobbies -- at the expense of seniors and their families. http://www.usanext.org/voices.cfm
