January 17, 2005 FLOW [Foolish Liberals Overly Wailing], Mounts Assault Against Council by Jeff "Mario" Smith, Guerilla Reporter In an unprecedented assault on the LFUCG Council, liberal activists who want to condemn a well-run and privately-owned company in order that the government own it instead, are inundating LEFTington Council members with emails, phone calls, and letters. When liberals don’t get their way, we all pay the price through having to endure their assaults against constitutional procedure, law, and common sense. When Mayor Teresa Isaac first moved forward with her plan to condemn KY American Water, some, who were opposed, suggested the people be allowed to decide before any actions were taken. That idea was quickly tossed. 1.3 Million Dollars, and one overthrown Council later we are still battling this ridiculous un-American concept. Why? Because they just won’t give up. When the people were denied an opportunity to vote on the condemnation, there was a lot of outrage. That outrage was focused on overturning the Council in the last election from a pro-takeover majority to an anti-takeover majority. Since they wouldn’t allow us to vote on condemnation, we went to the polls with a mission. That was obvious from the historic Council change on November 2, 2004. How much louder do we need to speak? Apparently a lot louder, because the liberal socialists, who believe in government ownership of the means of production, are making their last "hail Mary" attempt to keep the condemnation proceedings from coming to an end. Not only are they trying to make it appear as though most LEFTingtonians support condemnation by blasting the Council with phone calls and emails, they are promising to bring the issue before the voters through a questionable petition drive. I wonder if this petition drive will be a lie like the charter amendment proposal was a lie. You see, the Heraldo-Liberal and FLOW presented the charter amendment to the sheeple as if it would give the citizens a voice on condemnation, when really it was merely an attempt to create a Water Authority that would prolong ending condemnation. What’s amusing is the fact that they didn’t want us to vote on it when a majority of the Council supported condemnation. But now that the Council has rightly been turned upside down, or I should say, right side up, all of a sudden the "people" aren’t being heard and they will revolt through a petition drive. You gotta love these leftists. It is all about them. Nobody else should be heard but them. I am here to tell you that the people were heard on November 2, 2004 and we spoke so loudly because we did not feel that LEFTington was moving in the right direction. We, the people, do not believe that LEFTington should be sending a message to businesses that there will only be certain types of businesses allowed in LEFTington, and if the Mayor does not agree with your type of business, we will lower the boom. Under the present Mayor and the last Council, smoking, that’s tobacco, in privately owned businesses has been outlawed and our limited law enforcement resources have had to engage in arresting smokers, bartenders, and bar owners. If that isn’t unbelievable enough, the last Council, in concert with the Mayor’s office, has been trying to condemn a company that has nothing wrong with it in order to "keep the profits in LEFTington". That’s Marxist-speak for "government ownership of the means of production with rents and proceeds going to the public purpose", the first plank of Karl Marx’s godless communist manifesto. Oh, but woe be unto he that speaks that McCarthy-ist word "communism". He must be an extremist.
