Ending the VET By John Riley
Did you ever wonder what the fight to end VET (vehicle emissions testing) was really all about? Devvy Kidd, in the article below explains in rather good detail why the EPA should be abolished. The citizens of Jefferson County were, and the citizens of Northern Kentucky as well citizens in other states (like our neighbors in Ohio) are still under the thumb of the all powerful EPA and their ridiculous logic and proven ineffectiveness of vehicle emissions testing (VET).
Much of Kentucky and most other states are also required by the EPA to use oxygenated "reformulated" fuel with either MTBE (which some states have now banned) or ethanol which has been proven to increase pollution levels and is known diminish fuel economy by as much as 30%. Not to mention the higher cost and the tremendous subsidies provided for it production.
California's request to end its use by an EPA "waiver" because of the negative impact on air pollution was denied by the EPA and they currently are in the midst of a lawsuit against the Federal Government and EPA to be "allowed" to end the use of "reformulated" fuel there. California has done its homework and has the guts to make a stand against the EPA!
While Ms. Kidd does not delve into the emissions testing issue in the article below, the origins of this idiotic and unconstitutional monster are the same. Her call for abolishing completely the Federal EPA is well researched and documented by many before her, and I'm glad she is also joining in, after doing her research, in calling for a complete end to the EPA. She makes a point as well about abolishing the US Department of Education, and I could not agree more!
Please take the time to read this and you will surely agree that the Kentucky State Legislature should also develop a solid backbone in dealing with the reach of federal agencies, starting with the EPA!! I'd be happy to help and happy to hear your comments!
