TERRY’S TIDBITS by Terry Gray November 22, 2004
“Democracy is the art and
science of running the circus from the monkey cage.”
GEORGIA LIBERTARIANS ON THE MOVE Ben Brandon, in a bid for County Executive in Dade County, Georgia, whipped the Democrat on November 2nd and is now in a run-off with the Republican. The run-off election is November 23. Dave Richard won the race for Forsyth County Commission in Georgia. Emulating Ron Paul (R) Texas, Dave won on the Republican ticket in order to bring libertarian values to Forsyth County government. Allen Buckley ran for the U.S. Senate in the Atlanta area on the Libertarian ticket and received 69,051 votes. Numerous inquiries have been received by the Georgia Libertarian Party concerning reviving now defunct Libertarian chapters in North Fulton and Floyd County Georgia. Libertarians and patriotic Americans in Georgia are voicing their resentment of the “Big Two”, a sentiment that we all can share.
ARE YOU NUTS? Ron Paul (R) Texas is fighting a federal bill that will commit between $20 and $44 million for the mandatory psychological testing of all school aged children, including drugs if recommended. Ironically, the most dangerous side effect of anti-depressant drugs prescribed to children is suicide. For once, the government is doing some long range planning with the “New Freedom Commission on Mental Health.” Just think, about 30 years from now when a child of today is pursuing a political career and his opponent brings forward the fact that this person needed psychological treatment as a child, including drugs. But it wouldn’t be limited to politics. Any career would be in jeopardy, thereby giving the government control over who works where. Years ago, Soviet communists attempted to paint all of their political rivals as having mental illness. Another consideration is in order – the removal of more parental rights thus strengthening the government’s role in families. When the government’s role in families grows, so do restrictions under the guise of public health and safety. More laws, more taxation, and fewer freedoms are required consequences of such a travesty on children, families, and the American public in general.
NEW CIVICS IN CONGRESS
“A good history covers not only what was done, but the thought that went into the action. You can read the history of a country through its actions.” Benjamin L. Hooks
If you place a frog in a pan of hot water, it will jump out if it is able. But if you put a frog in warm water and then gradually increase the heat, the frog will stick around for awhile. Incremental indoctrination seems like the way to go, whether you are trying to cook a frog or brainwash a society. “The American History and Civics Education Act of 2003” would have created 12 federal academies to teach “new” civics and history to top students nationwide. Thankfully, it was bottled up in the House Education Committee. Now comes “The American History and Civics Education Act of 2004”. The new bill has the same sponsors and same name and is the same bill as its namesake and predecessor. However, it does differentiate from the previous bill, H.R. 1078, in that all of the details of the new bill have been conveniently omitted. This bill is being scurried to the house floor in a rapid time frame so there can be no committee hearings or committee vote. The bill could be introduced as a non-controversial bill, meaning that no amendments would be allowed. Let’s take our top students, test them to see if they are crazy, drug them, teach them false history, and unleash them on the country. We can create a whole new Nazi Youth Program, but far superior, in that our program is one of democracy and freedom. The frogs in this scenario will likely be programmed to stay in the water long after it begins to boil. TIE ME UP!
A teacher right here in Kentucky, Bernheim Middle School to be exact, is under investigation for tying up her students. I say recruit her quickly for the federal academies. If drugging the students doesn’t work, she can be called on to apply her ropes.
2ND AMENDMENT Anti gun lobbies say that law abiding Americans can’t have guns in public, but criminals can. They don’t really say the part about criminals, but they do feel that it is unfair for anyone to have guns in public, so, because of fair play, criminals need to leave their guns at home, please. I say, in a sense of fair play, give everyone guns. Of course, someone would complain that he got a 22 caliber when someone else got a 38. Where’s the fairness in that? Can you imagine having lunch at McDonald’s with your family (I can’t) when an armed criminal barges in, rounds everyone up and begins shooting them? How about being a part of a crowd where gunmen open fire and you watch your wife, son, or daughter shot and killed while you stand there without any protection? Scary, isn’t it? While that is going on, would you wish for a gun of your own? After it was over, would you hate guns even more or go out and buy one? In Israel, 3 Palestinians were shot down by Jewish civilians after they opened fire in a crowded public center. One of the terrorists survived and complained to the media that he and his pals didn’t know the Israelis were armed. They were just going to have some fun plucking away at the defenseless families and then run away. Not fair! There have been 3 mass public shooting incidents in the U.S. where armed citizens have arrested the shooters. Well hey, only 3 incidents? We can’t change the government’s policy on arming the public because of 3 incidents. You would if you had been involved in those incidents. Besides, the 3 incidents are not the issue. The issue is whether or not we as Americans are allowed to protect ourselves as provided for in the 2nd amendment. If we lose this right, then any attempt by us to keep our other rights is just smoke rings on windy days. “The main beneficiaries of this policy (of a disarmed society) are Muslim terrorist and other psychopathic killers.” Don Gates.
IRS TERRORISM As we all know, there is a war against terrorism, and the government is eager to take our Constitution from us in order to protect us. Oh, goody. A couple of guys fighting the IRS, Al Thompson and Joe Banister, were recently indicted for something to do with taxes. That is about as much information as one can get when it comes to the why’s of IRS ways. Here’s a quote that makes my toes curl, and not in a good way:
"The blatant and far-reaching defrauding of honest taxpayers by these two individuals warrants an aggressive federal prosecution. This case should serve as a stark reminder to our citizens that caution should be heeded when approached by those advocating wild theories as to why one does not have to obey federal tax laws," stated United States Attorney Scott.
The closest I can figure is that these two horrible people were indicted for having theories. Just knowing that our government is keeping tabs on people with “wild theories” makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I want to sob in joy. Now back to reality. The above quote is Terroristic in nature. “A stark reminder” brings to mind black boots marching in time while the wearers gather up leaders of resistance groups to teach a lesson to those not “complying”. But since when do citizens need to be threatened in order to teach them to heed caution? Einstein had wild theories, but he wasn’t arrested, and people who approached him were not threatened by the U.S. Government in order to make them “heed caution”. What would the IRS do if everyone just said no? Sorry, I don’t want to pay taxes anymore. Now go get real jobs. I bet they would arrest all of us. Whoa, that is one wild theory isn’t it? I wonder how long I can remain free.
“The art of taxation consists in so plucking the goose as to obtain the largest amount of feathers with the least possible amount of hissing.” J.B. Colbert
