UPDATE BEACH CLEAN-UP/IGNORE THE KIDS By Terry Gray
Remember a couple of weeks back when I told you the story about cigarette butts on beaches in California and the massive cleanup efforts there? The motivation for the liberal press to do the story was to ban smoking from beaches. Government officials have now released a statement about this issue after passing a smoking beach ban.
“LOS ANGELES -- Southern California officials say the piles of cigarette butts that litter the sand and water after this week's rainstorm are proof that the beach smoking bans are ineffective. A new report by the Los Angeles County's Department of Beaches and Harbors has found no change in the number of cigarette butts littering two public beaches, despite a trial smoking ban this summer. Sanitation officials believe the majority of the butts are not coming from beachgoers, but smokers inland who toss their butts on sidewalks and streets. Rains wash them and other debris into storm drains and to the beach.
Some cities, such as Glendale, are trying to reduce the litter by giving away portable ash trays and placing butt receptacles at bus stops and outside bars, restaurants and other places where cigarettes are tossed.”
Forces International took a stand on this by saying that if officials would put ashtrays on the sides of buildings and in other public venues it would help reduce the number of cigarette butts littering the streets. The antis responded by saying that if ashtrays were out in the open for the public to see it would only encourage people to smoke.
On a similar note, Dr. Stan Glantz, anti-supreme, in a recent conference, has stated that tobacco companies should ignore the Master Tobacco Settlement Agreement. Aghast, I read on. Since tobacco companies have fulfilled their obligation to pay hundreds of millions of dollars into the agreement and the money has stopped financing Nazi interests, tobacco companies should ignore “wasted youth access” financed by the agreement and just give more money to the anti-smoking crusaders.
“There
were several presentations indicating that limiting the focus to
So the smoke Nazis push to educate kids on the perils of smoking and when the tobacco companies do so, to the extent of the monetary agreement, the smoke Nazis want to put a stop to youth educational programs (the original stated purpose of robbing tobacco companies of hundreds of million) and just continue getting their ransom with absolutely no accountability. When you see an ad in print or on television that asks you for money to feed a hungry child, do you recall the faces of those children that they show you? Now replace the faces of the elite members of the smoke Nazis with pictures of starving children and you’ll understand the desperation of these organizations. When one group of smoke Nazis can’t afford to continue to fight for their cause because their budget has been reduced from $30 million a year to $14 million a year, you have to take pity, don’t you?
