John Riley commenting on George Dick

Here is a prime example of the Courier Journal "reporting" to achieve a political end.  Below is a "news" article about the Libertarian candidate in the 3rd congressional district in Kentucky.  While this article may be welcomed by the Libertarian Party as the Courier Journal finally giving some "news" coverage to their candidate, it is in reality an attempt to simply swing votes away from one candidate (Northup) in an effort to give as much help to their candidate (Miller) as possible.

The Courier Journal could have been reporting all along about who George Dick is and what he stands for and they could have asked his position on all of the issues that the other candidates were addressing since he is a valid and serious candidate in the race, but they as well as all of the other "news media" chose consistently not to give any "news" coverage to the Libertarian candidate as if he was not even on the ballot or in the race.

Now, in just 2 weeks before the election, with their candidate of choice (Miller) needing as much help as possible they decide to tell readers about another choice they have had all along but that the Courier Journal and other "media" scantly mentioned.

The article below, if it weren't such a blatant attempt to garner votes away from Northup, should have appeared in their "newspaper" long ago and the Courier Journal would have reported every aspect of George Dick's campaign all along, just as they have on the other candidates.  Instead the Courier Journal waited until 2 weeks before the election to finally introduce George Dick.

Wonder why?  Well, this would be a great way to USE the Libertarian candidate to help their Liberal Democratic candidate.  And they no doubt will call this "news".  The Libertarians have and will continue to be "Used and Abused" by the Courier Journal and I'm sure some will be excited only to see this latest "news" article and think they have achieved some headway to have "Libertarian" in the headlines without even realizing that they are just being used.

The Courier Journal can prove me wrong very easily by from this day forward truly reporting on the candidates, all the candidates, from the day they file until election day and to stop picking and choosing what or whom to report in order to achieve a political end.  If they had done that in this race people would not have waited until now to learn about George Dick and this race could very well have been much different in its outcome.

Congratulations George, you finally made it in the "news" just in time to help the Democrat!
