The “Nice” Use Of Force? By Theresa Fritz Camoriano
I am getting very tired of “nice” people who want to put a gun to my head and force me to do things their way, all the while claiming that they are standing on the moral high ground. They aren’t.
A few weeks ago, I was talking with a very “nice”, well-intentioned woman who lives near me. I was complaining about all the taxes we are forced to pay to support the education bureaucracy, to the detriment of the students. She said, if I didn’t like it, I should move to another country. So that’s it. Her way or the highway! (How very nice!)
Isn’t it a pity that, in the “land of the free”, the plunderers have taken control? And even worse – that they are considered to be “nice”!
Thanks to all these “nice” folks, nearly every aspect of our lives, from cradle to grave, now is regulated or controlled by government force. We are forced to hand over huge sums of money to support lousy government schools that indoctrinate our children rather than teaching them to reason and think for themselves. We are being regulated and pushed into government monopoly health care, where bureaucrats will decide who lives and who dies, doctors will be drones in the huge health care bee hive, and pharmaceutical companies will have no incentive to invest in new technology to improve and lengthen our lives. The food we eat, the cars we drive, and even the clothes we wear, are already regulated!
What would be comical if it were not so true is that the “nice” people who promote all this use of force claim to support diversity and to respect other people. Sorry, but you don’t get diversity at gunpoint. You get it when people are free to be themselves.
Personally, I think “niceness” is vastly overrated. I’d sooner have a hundred mean, old crotchety ladies who will respect my freedom over one “nice”, well-meaning lady who wants to use force to control me. On the other hand, maybe it’s time for us to remember that it’s not so “nice” to be pointing guns at people who are just minding their own business.
